Guys That Do Pre-Launches (Please Read)

Hey guys,

I'm looking at launching a product with a company I am currently working for.

I'll spare you the details, however, I do have a question for the pre-launch guys and girls.

Do you typically just drive users to a short opt-in page which says the product will be released at X date at which point they have reserved their spot to be notified regarding the launch?

I want to build some initial hype before the actual launch and build a solid list which I can begin providing content for at least a couple of months before the actual launch.

How do you guys go about setting this up?

Yes, you can definitely do that to get some excitement going. However, I do recommend that you do it 5-7 days before your launch cause nowadays, people are often bombarded by different emails selling different products so in order for them to have a memory of what you are offering, it's best to set the product launch date after 5-7 days.

What I think you should do now is actually drive traffic to your website until you have built a substantial amount of traffic daily to your website and then during that prelaunch time, you simply use paid advertisements to get more traffic to your website.

    The equation for this is:

Free traffic (SEO, social media, articles, etc.) + Paid traffic = A huge amount of subscribers that are HOT and ready to buy your product.

The niche is not MMO, if that makes a difference.

Would you recommend sending traffic ASAP to a basic opt-in page, which provides some free content - and I can begin building a relationship with subscribers prior to pre-launch?

If you want people to get excited about something then you need to give them something to get excited about. Sending them to an optin page telling them your product is coming soon will likely not excite very many. I would suggest (at the very least) running some sort of contest. Give away cash, give away copies of your new product, whatever. Give people a reason to join your list and get excited.

The idea is definitely to give something of value away, either 20% of the program (ie first module) or a free ebook/video.

Make sure if you are giving away free information that it is easily and quickly consumable. You don't want people to not buy your product because they are still going through the free stuff you gave them. So make your freebies nice and quick and short and results driven.

They're 3-15 pages - and easy to consume and understand.

I have absolutely no issue with the product giveaway itself, moreso, targeted traffic without using PPC.

Give them something valuable before the pre-launch. Just telling them something "big" is coming without giving them a reason to wait for it will not work. I would suggest you offer a series of free reports, or do a series of 2-4 videos on the launch.

The content on these offers should already be good for the users to wait for your launch.
