Is Amazon's KDP Select program worth it?

Apparently Amazon has a "KDP Select" program for self-publishers that will allow you to post your Ebook on their website for free for up to five days. For those who have tried this program, do you find it to be worth it? (My biggest concern is that I've heard people who download free Ebooks tend to leave crappier reviews than people who pay for them. Have you found this to be a problem with the KDP Select program?)

Any other pros or cons that you'd like to share?

KDP Select offers a lot more than just the free 5 promo days. They now also have Countdown days. In addition there is the Prime Member lending program where you get paid if someone borrows your book.

Absolutely the program can be very worthwhile to help jump start sales.

After the 90 day period you will have to decide if you want to continue or explore other platforms also.

I've heard great things about KDP select, though I've never tried it myself. The only downside I see is you can't sell your ebook anywhere else while it's in the KDP Select program.

I use it extensively. It's a great form of advertising.

Thanks, everyone. If I may ask, has anyone noticed that they receive poorer reviews (and lower review scores) when they give their book away through KDP Select? (I've heard that free users often give lower review scores than do people who actually pay for an Ebook).
