Brand New and Need Help Please!

Hey all! I am very new to this and have been doing soo much reading, that I think it is too much reading! I am completely overwhelmed w/ all the different ways, and I see that everyone proclaims that their package is the best one! I want to do this affiliate marketing, and it must work as I see alot of people doing it, but my question is, does IT REALLY work like I have heard, ( people saying they make 10K + a month?)

I would really appreciate some advice on how to start up w/o a website. I tried that, and to no avail! Any suggestions would be much appreciated. OH.. and.. I am willing to put ALOT of effort into this, but I need a better understanding of what THIS is.

Also, this is my first post can anyone tell me what tags and trackbacks are?

  • Everyone is making at least $10K a month.

And Affiliate Marketing without a website is like playing basketball without a hoop!

How many people have you met personally - in real life - face to face that are Affiliate Marketers?

If you want to learn you have to start. And the easiest way to start is to blog. Then you do your market research. What kind of problems can you solve for people? Is there a viable market? Who is my target customer? How can I make an offer to that Target Customer? Are there Affiliate Opportunities. Etc.

    Everyone has to start somewhere.

I agree you really do need a website. At the very least get yourself a blogger blog and put out some articles promoting some affiliate marketing. Are you just not willing to commit to the few dollars a month a website costs? If your not willing to risk $20 a month then IM may not be a good fit for you

I had a site, that was geared for healthy solutions.. but honestly didn't know how to target anyone. I got frustrated because I dont know how to find other companies other than clickbank. How do you find out what companies offer affiliate signups? So could a site be considered a blog also?

      Hi Robin,

Yes, actually a blog is considered a site. As a matter of fact if you can get yourself set up with your own Wordpress blog, it's almost the way to go these days. At least in my opinion...

Static websites of course are find to, but, the search engines are quite partial to blogs these days because the content is updated so often.

As for as finding some health related products. Check out Market Health. It used to be known as Joe Bucks, but, recently they made the complete switch over to being known as Market Health.

These guys have some great health products, with some very good converting merchants. It's definitely worth checking out.

You may also try out More Niche..they have a few etc. But definitely check these guys out.

Health and Beauty Affiliate Programs by MarketHealth.com

Before you apply to be an affiliate for these guys, be sure you have some type of website set up. It's a requirement for joining many affiliate programs out there.

Sure, there are some free methods of marketing out there where you don't need a website, and just link directly to the merchant. But, if you are serious about making money with this, having your own website to review, pre-sell your visitors etc. etc. is extremely important.

I hope that helps Robin...take care.

Hi Robin, and welcome to the Warrior Forum. I remember well the feeling of being overwhelmed. Here is some advice from someone who started as a newbie one year ago. Have I reached my financial goals for my first year? Yes, and then some. My goals were modest, but this year's goals are much more ambitious. I have learned so much in a year, and you will, too! I am happy with this type of work and see lots of opportunity!

I see you want to start up without a website. I think that is very smart, as you can easily get sidetracked by selecting just the right theme, and choosing what kind of platform to use, where to host it, where to buy the domain, what domain extension to use, etc. etc. etc. I will leave it to other Warriors to guide you on exactly what to do to make money without a website, as this is not my business model.

If you later decide to use a free website to generate a stream of income, and I hope you will consider many streams of income, then my advice is to keep it simple and start a blogspot blog. You can make money with a blogspot blog. Keep it simple and use one of the themes available right there within blogspot when you are building your blog.

Now the question is how are you going to make money with a blogspot blog? The possibilities are really endless. Are you passionate about one of your hobbies and could you produce a short eBook on the topic? Having an inexpensive eBook about something you enjoy sharing with others would help you build a customer base and an email list for future offers.

If you think you cannot write an eBook then buy some Private Label Rights (PLR) material about your topic and rewrite it just a little. That is what PLR is all about, we buy it and are given the rights to make it our own. If you are on a tight budget, then just go search the internet for information on your topic and rewrite that until it is about 70% unique. To do that, copy and paste the text you want to rewrite into the left hand side of dupecop dot com. Then start rewriting on the right hand side until you see the per cent unique number get up to 70%. You will want to add as much original ideas as you can, and the more unique the better.

Searchers are used to seeing eBooks advertised with a 3-D graphic of the eBook complete with a cover. That is done with software that you can buy, there are also some free resources. I use a paid software that requires PhotoShop and I don't recommend it for a newbie. I will leave it to other Warriors to recommend what might be best for a newbie.

Sell the eBook for less than $10 - $7 seems to be a popular price - and to keep things real simple, put a paypal button in a sidebar widget on your free blogspot blog. You make the pay button at the paypal website, copy the code and paste it right into the widget called HTML/JavaScript. People can buy your eBook by hitting that paypal button. You check your paypal account once a day and fill your orders. Now this is not the most efficient way to do it, but I believe it is the easiest for someone new and the cheapest to begin with.

How will people find your eBook? They need to find your blogspot blog. That means you will need to create anchored backlinks pointing to your blog. There are many free ways to get these. There are tons of posts here at WF about getting these anchored backlinks.

If an eBook is not something you are interested in, you could become an affiliate at Amazon or eBay. It is free to become an affiliate, and there are no fees to pay. You create widgets at their sites, copy and paste the code from their website onto your blogspot blog. Then get busy getting anchored backlinks to your blog.

When someone goes to your blogspot blog and clicks on a picture of the items (the items and photos automatically get there from the widget code) they are immediately taken to Amazon or eBay. If they buy something then you get a percentage of the profit made by Amazon or eBay.

There are many ways to create online income streams for yourself as a newbie. I can recommend only the ones I have experience with that I know I could handle as a newbie. I am sure other Warriors will offer more ideas as well.

Pick the ONE income stream that makes sense to you, TEACH YOURSELF how to do it, and do it. JUST ONE. After you have chosen it, get busy learning through internet searching. Keep out of information overload here at WF by limiting yourself to reading only about the ONE income stream you have chosen. Don't 'overlearn' either. Get to the ACTION stage as soon as possible. Your ACTION stage will be your real teacher. And don't worry about making a mistake. Anything can be fixed, really.

Good luck and get going! (By the way, the website in my signature is an example of the type of free site I am talking about...paypal buttons on a free blogspot blog. Don't buy my product...just look at how I set up the site. It is very simple but works. This is just one of my income streams.)

  • My point was not everyone is doing it.

If you hang around with people that love to watch movies and you love to watch movies soon you find that watching movies seems like it is one of the things ALL people do... and a lot of it.

It's a great big world. Some people never go to the movies ... ever!

That's another point. Make Money from Home is a small niche... the huge niches are products and services that have nothing to do with making money from home.

Think about things in your everyday life, shoes, ipods, swimsuits, collecting stamps, your favorite brand of chocolate... now you are seeing products.. how many of those products are in the make money from home niche?

There is so much opportunity to promote so many different products and services.

The way you find about those opportunities is to use Search Engines (Not just Google) and search for them. Look at who is advertising, look at the top links. Visit those links. Look for the Affiliate Link at the bottom of the merchant page.

Type in Keyword +Affiliate in the Seach Engines.

Visit Forums about Marketing and Look at CPA , Affiliate Programs.

Can you sell items from Amazon, Ebay?

Can you sell your own products? Do you have a family member that is involved in a businss you can promote online?

    There are so many opportunities.

Everyone is not the same, some people are cut out for this business and others are more suited to other ventures. You have to figure out your strengths and weaknesses and what you can do and what you are willing to invest in doing.

And just because someone is making money somewhere doesn't mean everyone is making money. There is a whole lot of hype and hyperbole behind the "claims".

use twitter to drive traffic to your blog. i tweeted about 20 times the other day about an article site that i am an affiliate of, and got 1000 people there in 2 days.
other tweets just die out there, so simply choose one that does work. test and test again.
also i have joined a viral following tool thing for one of my profiles and it is growing very quickly.
even my others are growing fast. i can get more that 2000 followers some days.
use this to build up a real list.

Not to give you more information overload, but my recommendation would be to bookmark a couple sites like seomoz and seobook. You don't need to spend days on them, which one could do. Just at least read the blogs, as they will help keep you current on the internet marketing changes over time.
