Where should I start?

Hi, I'm currently 18 years and will be graduating high school this year. I will hopefully be attending university next fall and this is where I start worrying.

My parents have been jobless for a little less than a decade now, my dad used to be a VP for a software company that went bankrupt during the early 2000s. I have 3 siblings and they are all younger than me, although my parents aren't really stressing anything to us I can tell they are in financial difficulties.

I will be getting a student loan for uni, I don't want to give my parents more stress financially trying to help me with uni, that's why I have been looking for ways to earn money. I have tried blogging which doesn't work for me since I'm not the type of person that like to write about stuff. I did try CPA and PPD offers but I've made insignificant amount before getting my Youtube vids flagged by competitors in that niche (kind of a grey hat niche)

Right now I'm trying to learn objective-c and hopefully make an app within this school year before everything gets out of hand. I've applied to local grocery stores and recently found out about warrior forums. I've read a lot of threads about affiliate marketing, doing niche blogging and just IM in general. I have some experience in finding niches, setting up basic websites and such, but I have no idea what I should start doing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Niche finding, indepth - keyword research for picking buying terms, building converting sites with original content and optimization is the way to go.

You seem to have almost everything in place..

Depending on your business model, you might need opt in especially for affiliate marketing to do well and generate sales..

Another thing to take seriously is how you drive traffic to your site..

If you have the mot beautiful and high converting site in the world it won't cut it so long as no one knows about it..

Figure out how to use SEO, Paid traffic, Social media especially YouTube for traffic.

Basically, that's what making money online entails...

  • If software development is something that interests you, continue doing it. There is a lot of money in developing useful software and apps and bundling that with internet marketing is priceless.

In the meanwhile, learn internet marketing strategies so that you know how to drive traffic to whatever it is you are going to create in the future. Look at Affilorama.com and Challenge.co for free resources and examples of how people implement internet marketing to make money online.

And don't spread yourself thin. Focus on one thing and own it and move on.

  • I would look around (you can post a tread on this forum - to get the best offers) and find a good mentor. Pay for the private coaching group. There are many good alternatives around here - like $30 - to $100 per month.

I'd suggest - really make sure you get a good one (with refund possibilities) - paying with pay pal must be No1 option.

This will shorten your learning curve enormously! What is more important - you will be able to unleash the power of your mentor's list - what is one of the biggest assets in the world of IM and you will be making money in a few months time (don't expect miracles in just couple of weeks).

So earning money thru affiliate marketing is the best way to go? Find product, make a blog with lots of articles linking to the product, drive traffic to it and earn from commission? rinse and repeat?

So basically people who had success in affiliate marketing will teach me and lend me their mailing list to start off?

You are on the right track but don't expect affiliate marketing to be an easy option - a Mentor or a good IM Membership Site would be a good idea to start you on the right road.

There are those who advocate creating your own product, so that might be something you can look into as well.
