How Can I Monetize This Blog?

My blog (The Best Things To Do In Jamaica) gets about 700 visitors per day. My original idea was to offer some local tours (which I would pass on to tour companies for a commission). I did this by having people fill out the contact form at the end of each post.

The problem, though is that I earn a very small commission from the tour companies. And, I have to invest so much time in communicating with the potential customer to close the deal.

I've thought about forwarding the offer form submits to the tour company but then I would have to depend on them being honest about who actually paid which is not a good business model to me.

I've offered for them to pay me for leads but I guess they're not willing to take the risk.

So I'm trying to figure out what's the best/easiest way for this blog to make me $1000 per month?

700 visitors per day isn't a ton load of traffic but I think with this kind of targeting, $1000/month is doable.

I appreciate ALL ideas. What would you do if you were in my shoes???

You should not be closing tour deals yourself! And they are not even paying you a decent commission so stop that now. You are doing the hardest part of their tasks for a small commission, and they are not respecting you as a business man.

You should find a company that pays you per lead. You have to be smart. Tell the companies that you are getting X amount of emails asking for prices, tour details, etc., and you are going to bring them business on a consistent basis. Ask them how much they are willing to pay for each lead, considering they are warmed-up and they just need more details.

You have to make them respect your business. You receive a very decent amount of visitors and I am sure you get many inquiries about tour deals. So make that clear to the company you want to deal with.

If a company shows interest, make it a no-brainer for them. Tell them that you could show people on your site the tours in detail, their customer reviews (if they can provide them), add their youtube videos to your site if available, etc. Tell them that these things can have people ready to pay once they contact them. Make them see all the benefits they get, keep their focus on the benefits they get, not the fee for each lead.

Think about a fair minimum price you are willing to accept per lead. Let them make an offer first. If they prefer to hear the price for you, start a bit higher than the minimum price you thought before and see if they bite it. If not, negotiate having in mind the minimum price per lead you are willing to accept.

If they are stubborn and cheap, leave. And go to another company. In fact, let them know you are going to offer your services to X company right after...

I hope that helps you make some decent money from that site and earn some respect.

The first thing I noticed from an internet marketing standpoint is that you are not building any type of email list. The first thing I would do is get yourself and autoresponder account and put a web form on your site offering a newsletter of some sort.

A certain percentage of your visitors will submit their email to join your "Top 10 Things to do in Jamaica" email newsletter...(for example)

Once you are building your list of leads who have subscribed to your newsletter you can market anything you want to them that you feel they would get value from.

Have your autoresponder set up to send out one email per day and each sharing your top 10 best things to do in jamaica starting with #10 and then work your way down to the #1 best thing to do in Jamaica.

This can be an excellent way to engage your audience, entertain them, show them who you are, build a relationship with them, then SELL THEM STUFF!

Affiliate products in the Travel niche might be a good place to start...

    Hope this helps!

I like the original suggestion, offer information on local tours. Set it up as a lead generation site by getting in touch with local tour guides. You can send them peoples emails that you capture from tour leads, and forward them to the tour companies to complete the deal. I would imagine each lead would be worth 1-10 dollars, maybe more. AdSense is a no go, you wont grab great income there.
