The ads are paid ads. They are about the same as WSO's, some good, some meh.

As for a mentor, you could try asking a senior member to see if they might be interested in mentoring you. You could find a person like that by post count, number of thanks, and looking through their posts to see if they sound like someone you would like to work with.

Anyone can buy an ad in the header of this forum. So no, it is definitely no quality control guarantee and the forum mods will tell you the same thing. As always, buyer beware. Just like a newspaper can't be responsible for all of the products advertised in their newspaper.

As for a mentor, go out and find someone who is already successfully doing what you want to do. They are the people you want to be mentored by. Not necessarily the guys offering mentoring services because a lot of them tend to be making majority of their income from... you guessed it... selling mentoring.

I guess I am a traditionalist in thinking that a mentor/mentee relationship is a more personal relationship as opposed to a financial one. In my mind a paid relationship is more of a coaching one or maybe just hiring an expert.

Well it depends. I suggest people go out and seek the person they want to be mentored by. So you are actually finding the person you want to mentor you. Paying money to someone though does not mean they are not a mentor.

        Mentoring is defined as:

a term meaning someone who imparts wisdom to and shares knowledge with a less experienced colleague

So regardless of whether you pay someone or not, it can still be a mentor. To me coaching is more of an involved process where one person is teaching the other person new skills and how to implement them. Mentoring to me is a less involved process where one works with someone who already has many skills and shows them how to use those skills to their advantage, based on the experience of the mentor.

But certain things mean different things to different people. No right or wrong answer here.

I would suggest RW Biggs. The man changed my IM career, and I bump him whenever I get the chance.

You know there is a very less percentage of good mentors/coaches, you can't judge a mentor unless you join him, you can be easily fooled with fake reviews and success stories, I believe word of mouth can help find a better mentor.

I was in the same position a few months ago before I joined a paid affiliate marketing forum. There's a few out there but AffPlaybook is the one I'm part of and there's plenty of experienced guys hanging around there that post regularly.
