$10/1000 visitors. Is this a good rate?

Hey guys,

I just wanted some feedback. One of my affiliate sites currently is generating between $10 and $11 per 1000 visitors.

It's also getting a good click through rate and conversion rate of over 10% on both.

Is this good? Should I be at a higher rate? Any info would help, thanks!

It really depends on the niche, your sales letter and many, many factors.. So see how top websites in that niche do and then decide..

Yes depends on the niche. But if the CTR and conversion are good, it means it will be harder to improve something that is already good.

So really then for me at this point, it's just about putting more traffic through my site and monetizing that traffic at the current rate.

So your value per visitor is $0,01. You really can't use any paid traffic sources with that click cost. You should either:

    1. Get the visitors to an email list so you can sell to the same visitors again and again (increases value per visitor)
    2. Sell higher priced items or use upsell / cross-sell to squeeze more money out of each visitor
    3. Increase your conversion rate so you'll sell more products to same amount of customrs

The best idea: do all three steps

Exactly, which is why I don't do PPC. I use social media to drive traffic for free.

The niche I have doesn't lend itself to sell high priced items, but it works with Amazon associates and what I find is that when people get to amazon they buy the cheap products AND other more expensive ones at the same time.

I'll def work to increasing the conversion rate. I am going to change up the design and make it more appealing to get them to Amazon and make the buy.

10% is a really good conversion rate. How much traffic do you receive each month?

I personally think that it is low. I would however agree with those that are encouraging you to ask your to subscribe to your list. In that way you can properly target your audience with some products.

It really depends on your model. If you're monetizing from ads only, it's not bad, but could be improved to $20+ per 1,000 visitors. Your aim with this model is to increase traffic as much as possible.

If you're promoting affiliate offers and targeting buyer keywords, it's quite low, but again this varies from niche-to-niche.

$10 per 1,000 visitors means your earnings per visitor is 1 cent. Unless you can use paid traffic sources to get visitors to your site for way less than 1 cent then no, it's not good at all.

All that matters in this business is ROI. How much money you can make compared to the amount of money you spend. If you are only making 1 cent per visitor to your site then it means you have very little opportunity to do any kind of paid traffic which totally limits the future of the site.

You need to get that figure up way higher. The problem is everyone is sitting here saying 10% conversion rate is really good. This is just one great example of how conversion rate really means nothing at all. You could have a 10% conversion rate on a $1 product and thus be making $100 for every 1000 visitors who hit your site. Or you could have a 2% conversion rate on a $17 product which would mean you were instead earning $340 from those same 1000 visitors? Given the figures above, which would you rather? The 10% or the 2% conversion rate? So stop worrying about your conversion rate because it's not telling you how much money you are making. What you should be focusing on is your ROI.

I used to have a website that made $100 per month off 1,300 unique visitors. Another one made $100 for every 2,000 visitors. This was all with Adsense though.
