YouTube Ads - Throwing money away?

It seems these are the rules with YouTube ads:

- Pay if someone clicks your ad
- Pay if someone watches the WHOLE ad OR watches more than 30 seconds (even if they don't click)

So my ad is getting (eg) 800 "views", but only 100 of them are "clicks".

700 are just people watching the ad.

This is hurtful when it's $0.13 per "view"... and that turns into almost $1 per CLICK.

Any ideas?

Never tried before. Thanks for the share. However, I think you must have a video that is a teaser, not the full version. If it is good, surely the right people will click to find out part 2 and more.

Then you must figure out a way to capture their emails for part 2 of your video. Otherwise, you are just throwing money away
