Add a Bio - Yea or Nea?

I run a tech niche blog. Should I add a bio? It's been up for about a year and a half.

Just wondering if people have experienced any difference in readership when adding a bio at the end of every post?

    Definitely.

People like to know that they are dealing with someone real - not just someone from somewhere on the Internet hidden behind a mask.

Now, I should go take my own advice and add a bio on my blog, eh?

Go for it, it always establishes the authority bit into your posts especially when you know you are an expert at what you are talking.

      Thanks

You know, if you have some type of good authoritative bio then I think it would be helpful. However, if your bio is going to consist of "I love the topic I just wrote about, but have no formal education or facts about my background" then forget it, that's going to diminish any authority you have built up with your readers. The reality is that most people writing on the internet don't have much authority, but they build up their authority over time. If they ever truly revealed themselves it would hurt them more than help them.

Some of us prefer privacy, even with excellent bios.
Let's be honest -- it's mostly just bragging. And for me, that's just not my style.
It's about the information, not written self-fellatio.

It's up to you in the end.

If you do it then some people may feel more connected to you and be encouraged to come back.

But it may just end up being a pointless feature that doesn't add anything.

Has anyone noticed a difference #-of-page-views wise with as opposed to without, or without as opposed to with?

Will it possibly attract a more loyal following with the bio?

Seems the general consensus is that it doesn't really make a difference.

I wouldn`t make a Bio area unless I`m someone noticeable in the field. FOr those of us that have over 100 websites.. I don`t always make bios.. for all of them..

Letting people know who the author is makes reader trust the articles that they are reading.

I would like to put it in a different way.

I have noticed that those who write real good contents have/make nice bios and those who write re-hashed contents don't make/have bios or about me pages... Even if they have that's also not worth reading for like their contents.

The main thing is content...Good contents.. If contents are good then even a short bio will do but if contents are crappy then even bios can't help.

I would do it. Because people will likely recognize you. And like jrjohn said "People like to know that they are dealing with someone real"

I always prefer having a bio. It's a kind of self branding, if you are providing some sort of services. Also a little bio work as a trust factor.
