Does Aweber List Segmentation ADD Cost?

Hi Warriors, I know the importance of list segmentation in fine tuning you email marketing campaigns. What I am not so sure is does it add to your monthly cost for aweber.
i.e If I have a list of 5000 subscribers and I create a segment to broadcast to and lets say that new segment have 1500 will these 1500 be added to the original 5000 and say that I now have 6500 subscribers or what?

Thanks for your Input

Yes, the increase counts towards the billable total. However, you can take people off one list automatically when they're added to another.

Unless I am understanding it differently there is a difference between creating a new list and letting people optin and creating a segment off from your main list just to send targeted messages.

Like Douglas said, using automation rule and removing them from one list and adding them to a new list is a good way to avoid duplication and increase fees.

What I really want to know from Aweber clients using segmentation is whether aweber considers segments created off from a main list just to send targeted messages as new subscribers and thus charge extra!

For example if I have a list of 4500 people and I send one email to all of them and I put a link in the message which I am tracking. And then later on, I filter out all those from the 4500 who actually clicked on the link (1000) in other to send them a followup message since they showed interest by clicking the link in my previous message.

Will aweber consider the 1000 people who received my followup email as new subscribers or not? remember I just filtered my main list and sent a message to only selected list members.

I will like to hear from those who are actually using this feature in aweber. Thanks

Just ask Aweber support! You are more likely to get the right answer than asking random (well meaning) people in the forum!

I think they add up all the people on all your lists and charge based on that number.

Which means it is a good plan to:
        1. Clean the rubbish from your lists regularly (eg no opens or clicks for over 6 months)
        2. If you are milking all the income you can from your list and it's a fair amount - say $250+ - change to Office Autopilot which makes segmentation 10x easier.

OA will immediately increase your earnings as you can automatically resend to non-opens. By resending each email twice - completely on auto pilot - I see a doubling in open rates. Nice!

PS OA works by each contact having ONE record, and you tag each one however you like - so you can apply filters to make the exact segments you want. This is MUCH easier to manage than having to juggle multiple lists. And you only pay for each list member once.

I don't think aweber charges extra for segmentation unless you have a huge list to send to. I've found that Get Response is a bit cheaper and has a much better GUI than Aweber.

I use segmentation in aweber all the time.

Lets say you had 10,000 subscribers
and you segment them (i.e. create a segment of uk only for example)
and it turns out that segment is 3,000 people.

You will still only be charged for the original 10,000.

The segment is merely a report of how many are uk based
in this instance, and you can email them directly using the
    segment you created.

    Hope that helps

Correct. I misunderstood the question. Segmenting a list for purposes of sending a broadcast doesn't increase your bill. I thought he meant segmenting by way of creating a new list and having existing subscribers opt-in to the new list.

That certainly helps. It will be absolutely be unfair to consider a segment as additional subscribers. Thanks as usual.

Warriors not using segmentation yet, just stop here for a moment and think out of the box for a moment. Do you get it?

That is a limited way of using segmentation. But let's say you want to send a different email sequence to your health list, some of whom are interested in indigestion, some in poor circulation, and some in headaches.

In Aweber you'd have to create 4 lists: the fourth being "everyone", and you'd pay for every member of every list. If someone was on two of the segments then you'd pay for them x3.

In Office Autopilot you'd tag the one user record with three tags and only pay for that person once. And have much more flexibility with your segmentation
