How many internet ventures do you own?

Hey Warriors!

I've always been curious: how many internet ventures do you own/run.

For example, I have my writing business, I sell on eBay and I just started an affiliate website. My goal is to never have all my eggs in one basket. So if eBay decides to give me the ax, I'm still bringing in money from other sources.

What about you?

I used to have 10+ websites, but I decided to sell them all except my highest earning site. Couldn't be happier with the results

About 10, most are "sleeping" and just waiting for a chance to make money with them. You never know...

When I first started my goal was to have a shit load of affiliate sites all earning a little bit a month. That has now changed A LOT. I managed to get a lot of affiliate sites earning through SEO only to be eaten by one of the many Google animals.

I now have 5 sites I run and look after them carefully...

I also changed my mindset and instead of looking at them as quick ways to make a buck I looked at them like a business.

Your goal of never having all your eggs in 1 basket is a good one. No matter what business you are in you should always have a backup if everything goes to shit....

I tried doing that and it didn't work. So I whittled it down to just 3 areas: ecommerce, writing and now an affilate site.

The problem I have is that I have so many ideas running through my head I want to work on them all. But I know realistically I couldn't devote the time and energy to working on more than 3 at once.

Concentrating on one is the smart way to go.

3 is my limit - and it wasnt on purpose. I kinda fell into selling on eBay by accident (long story), I've been freelance writing for many years, and the affiliate site is something I've been thinking about for a while. I'm viewing this new site as a "side project" right now.

What most people fail to realize about the whole WF myth of not having all your eggs in one basket... is that if you have a bunch of eggs in multiple baskets and the eggs are spoiled, you just have a bunch of baskets that smell like shit.

I think it is kind of silly to diversify when you have something that works well, why take your attention off of what works and put time and effort into something unproven?

When it comes to diversifying, I think it is smarter to diversify your marketing, and your traffic generation. It is smart to have a back up, but dumb to take time away from growing something that works. If you do diversify, then be smart about it. If you are doing well in one niche, then why not expand in that niche or get into something that has crossover appeal into another niche where you can use your successful site or online venture to propel your next?

i have over 200 web properties but in reality only 20 or so make consistent residual money and the rest more than cover costs :-)

Before anybody has a pop at me I outsource and what not to maintain :-)

Lol. True dat - very true. That's where expertise and mastering each egg (did I really just say that...) come into play.

Two - one service provider thing and one affiliate marketing website. But I just discovered that I HATE affiliate marketing, so I will soon be putting the aff website up for sale.

I market ONLY 'one' highly converting System. Nothing more, nothing less. Works well for me since I have no Plan B. I guess this is having all my eggs in One basket.

If you have a plan B, you will probably need it.

I use to have all my eggs in one basket... not anymore... Everything will come to an end.... and when it does my other income streams will pick up the slack giving me breathing space to replace the lost income stream...

4 and they're all quite different, but profitable.

2 don't require much time at all, but are good earners. The other 2 I spend the bulk of my time on as they're my 2 passion niches.
