I would appreciate feedback on my blog.

Hi I am a reasonably new member here. Over the past two months I have been attempting to set up a new blog. A personal one for the first time ever!

It details my progress towards a successful career in internet marketing as I strive to quit my day job on 31st december 2013.

I have been working with a mentor (Alex Jeffreys) for the first time and it has been inspirational.

I would really appreciate honest and constructive feedback on the direction my blog is taking. The blog is not selling anything, nor will it ever! As I intend it to be a portal to help others on a similar journey to my own.

The link is in my signature.

Thank you.

Luke

    Hi Luke,

    I like it.

I like the message you're trying to get across (as it is similar to my message also), as well as the design and feel of the website as a whole.

    Good job!

  • Hi Luke,

Your blog looks great and has some good info on it as well. You come across as honest and truly wanting to help others out (which is very rare in this world) and because of that I do believe you will succeed in your journey.

Just remember there will be some rough days, as long as you can accept that fact and move forward with motivation you are going to be just fine.

I love the theme! What's more, I'm even more in love with that Facebook/Twitter/G+/Youtube/RSS widget - could you tell me what plugin I could find that with? Thanks!

I also love the direction you're taking - helping people. Are you sure you don't want to monetize with your own books WHILE helping people?

Also, you could at least build a list with a free eBook giveaway or something of the sort. Couldn't hurt.

    Regards,
    JR John

Simple but it works. Not overly fancy but it gets the point across. I like it. make sure you post on the regular and keep a schedule and stick to it. Soon your reader WILL expect on certain days to read a new post. Keep it up

It looks nice and clean, I'm sure that over time when there are lots of posts and followers it will become a behemoth.

Thanks to those who have given feedback so far. It is encouraging to know I am on the right track.

DNChamp - I post every day from monday to friday with a video each monday (gaols for the week) and friday (roundup of the week). Then tuesday to thursday I write about my progress or whatever I feel is relevant. It seems a good format and the videos act as accountability and as a 'easy & quick' post that lessen some of the work load as I tend to spend quite a while crafting the post. Partly because I love writing and partly (and this needn't be a contradiction) because I am dyslexic.

jrjohn - Thanks! The widget is called 'Metro Style Social Icons'. Be warned there is an option for 'Add Like/Follow Button' in the widget options panel. I have had to disable this as it breaks the entire widget.

I had actually intended to release a free ebook version of the product I have created on my blog but the way the product developed has prohibited this. It is now going to be packaged as a fully video tutorial plus manual on website optimization for SEO.

However, I still intend to build a list off the site. That is essential. I think what I will do next is write a book on how I created and launched the product from scratch. It fits in nicely with my desire to be open and help people travel the path I've taken

sejbt23 & JJ Road To Success - thank you. This in encouraging. I really want that to be my central message that comes across. I firmly believe it and I think that it will benefit me in the long run too.
