Cancelling a Clickbank Subscription

I purchased a recurring-payment WSO that I have now decided to cancel after two months. It was set up via Clickbank, but of course, one can pay via Paypal which I did. I assumed that paying via Paypal would be easier since one has control of subscriptions and can cancel anytime without requiring the vendor to process the cancellation.

Much to my surprise, there is no way to cancel the Clickbank subscription from within Paypal. So I used the Customer Service inquiry form on Clickbank and sent them a detailed request to cancel future rebills, referencing the CB order number and invoice numbers of my previous payments.

I did this on Monday (25th) and the rebill would normally be processed on the 30th, so have done it 5 days in advance.

Should I get a confirmation from CB that this has been taken care of? I find it disconcerting that I have no record of my request, as it was submitted via a webform with no option to have a copy of my request also sent to my email. I've had no email autoresponse to indicate they've received my request.

I really don't want to find out on the 30th that they never cancelled the rebill and have to fight it via both Clickbank and Paypal.

Does anyone know how this should work, and is there anything I can do to double-check and be sure it has been cancelled before it gets charged again?

    Hi Susan,

If you are paying via PayPal subscription, check the payment details you made previously. They should show you a subscription reference. See if you can cancel the subscription from there.

That's what I tried to do and it isn't possible. Any other subscription in Paypal can be cancelled directly in Paypal. But if you have a recurring billing with Clickbank, paid via Paypal, it is somehow set up differently and there is no option within Paypal to cancel it in the normal way. That's what I tried to explain in my second paragraph but I guess I didn't do a very good job.

I filled out Clickbank's Customer Service query form, and I'm just concerned because I have not received any confirmation of the cancellation.

I focus on ONE online business model - Recurring Revenue (RR). If I can help you in any way just post a RR question or PM me.

Did you send your message to cancels@clickbank.com? I did this with info (order no, email, name, zip) and got a confirmation of the cancellation within two days.

Yes. This way you will get a confirmation email stating that it is cancelled.

When you use the web form method, it usually takes around 3 - 7 working days before they respond back to you.

So it will be better if you send an email as stated by InfoAcademy.

Thanks InfoAcademy and edhan. I was not aware of that email address, only the webform. I will send an email to reconfirm my cancellation.

This was a good lesson and I'm glad I started the process 5 days prior to the next billing which I hadn't actually planned to do (but was afraid I'd forget, so just did it early). I'm accustomed to Paypal where I can cancel the day before the next recurring charge is scheduled to be paid. Since I paid with Paypal, I thought I could cancel the same way I normally do.

Also I think you can check the email you got to confirm your purchase from clickbank. In that email there will be a link:

              CUSTOMER SERVICE

If you need additional customer service ClickBank will be happy to assist you.
To make a customer service inquiry with regard to this purchase, please visit:
              http://link.com/etcetc

Click the link and it will take you to your order details. Then there will be a drop down menu asking you what you want to do:

              Refund
              cancel subscription

              etc

              Hope that helps

Even though this is an old thread, it was still helpful. I went to the order page and clicked on the "get support" button. You have to drill down a few times before you can get to the option, but there is an option that says that you weren't getting the value for your recurring membership.

I just canceled by SEOlinkvine membership, after a few months of giving it a try and putting in a bunch of unique articles even after a few months the articles STILL aren't getting indexed by Google. Even with unique content. I'd rather get a new domain, slap wordpress on it, and post them than rely on SEOlinkvine for links.

You will get a confirmation email from clickbank. HOwever it may take longer if you did not cancel through the link they provided you with the product support section. It normally takes 7-10 days to cancel so it may or may not get canceled before you are rebilled. Hope this helps.

Thanks, yesacpow and bhartzer. Your inputs helped me to cancel an order that I paid through paypal and bought from clickbank. I don't understand why it is so difficult to cancel through them.
