The Best Wordpress Security

I have been getting this recently.

WordPress Login Temporarily Disabled

We apologize for the inconvenience! You are seeing this message because your site has recently been targeted by attackers attempting to gain access to your WordPress Dashboard. In order to protect your site your WordPress Login page has been temporarily disabled.
Unfortunately, you will be unable to login to the Dashboard until the block expires.

Any more sustainable solutions to keep these hackers out for good? I am currently doing password on /admin & /wp-login.php but its not really holding up.

Anyone have a permanent way to protect your wp site? I currently use a password lock on /admin & /wp-login.php but they seemed to break passed?
this is a common issue these days.....personally one of my sites has been hacked a few days ago and all my files were Erased!!!
but had backup of everything so, i was able to restore it in a matter of minutes

one plugin i recommend is located here : WordPress › Wordfence Security « WordPress Plugins

My site was hacked before i install the wordfence plugin but now after you install it and configure it to maximum protection you will see the HUGE difference

PS : there is a paid version of it that costs 39 per year per website but it does worth the money

Use a plugin called Better WP Security. It's best to install this when you first put up a site and change the prefix using it. There are some other basic securities it will put in place automatically for you.

Better Wp looks promising will give it a try. Main main worry is these plugins will cause website to be even slower.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ill put these in consideration.

Better WP is best for file security you can run that in conjunction with Wordfence, Block Bad Queries, Simple IP ban, Bad Behavior and a Firewall.
These work perfectly together on my WP blog.
The effect on a site is very small.

The effect on a site is very big if it gets hacked

I agree with the above post. My experience is that it didn't hinder the speed much at all.

I would suggest making a full backup of your site before making major changes with Better WP though.

WordFence is all I need. I make the settings very aggressive and whitelist my IP so I can always get in.

I also delete every theme and plugin that is not in use.

Better WP Security or Wordfence can sucure your website. Also don't forget to install a Captcha plugin for your login page, it will protect from brute force attacks.

Bulletproof Security is another highly recommended one you can try out as well. It also does the firewall htaccess monitoring, login monitoring etc. which is very quick and easy to get working but has a lot of advanced stuff you can do to if you feel the need to really dig in.
