I actually create a lot of content by hand. Research, write and edit.

    What is the KONG method?

Lol meant content is King Kong, are you an expert in the field your in?

Should I rewrite books and content already published or become an expert in my subject first and then start thinking about creating a website?

Content generation is very important but it isn't discussed so much because it's so easy to outsource. If you know nothing about your niche, you can hire someone who does to write articles for you at about $10 a pop.

Actually, I have been recognized as an expert in one field. It's an offline profession but deals heavily in data and computers..

How you go about creating online content is purely up to you. You can go the route that I did and invest a ton of time and effort to learn one field, or, do what so many others do and that is outsource, outsource, outsource.

If financials are a consideration right now, focus on getting your writing up to speed and create small articles here and there. No need to reinvent the wheel, but put your own spin on things. You'll find that you can crank out a good informational article in no time if you focus on that.

Another option is content-meshing. Mesh original content with content pulled from yahoo answers. Using wordpress is a great example of doing this with the caffeniated content plugin.

mash ups are fun, but be aware that most search engines nowadays shingle the hell outta your pages and are perfectly capable of detecting if there's nothing original / unique on it.

      Thx for the advice guys

Yeah im bootstrapping, so outsourcing isnt really the way to go for me. Thats a good route to go, become an expert first and then start pushing articles. If someone comments or ask a question you will lose credibility if your not on the ball.

      Keep em coming guys

I don't think you need to be an absolute expert on something before you start writing articles and producing other content. What I would suggest is mixing research and writing to start with.

So you could do, for example, an hours research and then write a 500 word article. Then rinse and repeat, and before you know it, you'll have tens if not hundreds of articles and you'll know a massive amount about your niche.

If anyone asks you a question, bear in mind that you don't have to answer it straight away. You can always go away and research the answer for yourself before you answer them.

In terms of research, I think there is one trap that a lot of people fall into. They do tons and tons of research and never get round to actually writing content because they want to produce the "perfect" article. Even if there is such a thing as a perfect article, I know that I'm never going to be the one to write it

If I can get some easy-to-read, entertaining and informative content out there, then that's good. If I can do it quickly then that's great! Doing it quickly comes down to practice as much as research - the way to get better at writing is, unsurprisingly, to do lots of writing.

You've gotten some really great advice here, Cryp!

If you want to build a site on a topic you have little or no experience with, like others have said, try to find PLR articles in that niche and rewrite them. Or, if you can't find PLR articles, look on article directories such as EzineArticles to find articles others have written on the subject, as well as looking on the search engines to find additional information on the topic.

Take notes on what you've read and then, with the information you've gathered, you should be able to write some pretty good articles about the subject.

It's kinda like being in school, but you don't have to go to the library to look stuff up (we didn't have the internet when I was in school, LOL).

Yep, the more you write, the quicker and easier it gets. So get to writing!

For my sites i use content with 100% free rights. I modify it and rewrite it. If i cant find a content with rights, i then write it or outsource it. You dont have to be expert to rewrite something in your own words, ofcourse experts do much better, but when you are starting out you need as much as content as possible in the beginning. You cant wait to become and expert and get a train of thoughts to sit and crank out articles after article!

    Best,
