How do solo ad vendors build their lists?

I've bought some small solo ads and all together they have been profitable so I don't mind continuing to buy them but my question is how do they build their lists?

Why don't they just promote stuff directly instead of selling the ads? If i'm making a profit wouldn't they make an even bigger one promoting these various offers themselves?

Doesn't it make sense to just do that myself instead of buying ads from them?

Are they just making some generic freebie landing page to build the list and then selling the solo ads afterwards? If so, how are they getting the traffic? Maybe they have set up their own blogs that are constantly getting seo traffic to build their lists?

I've asked a few of them and so far they have said that they build their list by buying solo ads from other solo ad vendors. How do they get high open and click rates?

I don't really expect a specific answer to these questions but maybe someone can link another thread that discusses this stuff? Or (I hate to say this but here goes....) a product that teaches it?

I'm already in BIM so I'm assuming they are using similar traffic strategies but I guess I'm just curious.

Some build there list by buying solo ads, adswaps etc
Would think that you would need some cash behind you to build an active list to then sell your own solo ads and then as you make money from selling them reinvest back into solo ads keep your list topped up and fresh

To be honest I think quite a lot of them sell solo ads because they have a list full of freebie seekers and selling solo ads is only way to profit from that list which in my opinion is why most say free offers only, but that's just my thought on it.

Don't get me wrong there is some great solo sellers out there.

Some of them were just marketers like you trying to promote offers to make them money. However, they probably didn't know how to 'convert' the list into sales (for them selves) so they go the easy route and sell the list to advertisers.

Some of these providers have built their lists from freebie people and yes free people at first don't want to spend money based on 'mindset' issues but later figure out that spending money can and does shorten their learning curves and money getting ventures.

Then you can have a more 'reputable' vendor who has (and still is) generating lists via their own websites. These types of vendors usually have a more responsive list that you can sell to.

The trick in Solo ads is to do your research, play with only small amounts of cash at first and track all of your ads by inserting a tracker on your landing pages.

I know a few guys who have become millionaires by using solo ads but they took a lot of time to test the waters before dropping big budgets into anything.

If you have big list, you can mix things. Most of them build those lists from solo ads, fb ads... the goal here is to make funnel which converts as good as possible. if you have funnel which is profitable, than just keep sending solos and eventually you will have big list.

The better marketers will pull in their leads from several different traffic sources aside from solo ads. Not all prospects can be found through solo ads so it's best to diversify traffic, cast your net as widely as possible to gather as many leads as possible. If your funnel is strong you can do great things as far as pulling in ROI from those leads.

If you know you can get a certain number of opens and clicks from your list, you have a guaranteed income from solo ads since those rely entirely on clicks.

In many cases it can be the difference between trying to squeeze sales out of your list (promoting something to them) versus just selling the clicks which are the only guaranteed thing for a solo ad.

In many cases for better lists (stronger relationship with the marketer) some clicks will turn into sales for the solo buyer. This is a win-win situation since the buyer now has a quality solo seller they can add to their list, whilst the seller has a 100% guaranteed income through selling clicks via solo ads. While products have refund rates etc, as long as those clicks are delivered there is no refund is 99% of cases.

Most of them simply go to places like the WarriorForum, safe swaps etc and buy from other sellers to build their lists quickly.

Other sellers will build lists from PPC, PPV, product launches, SEO etc.

Pretty much any way you can think of to drive traffic, you can use to build a list, which can ultimately be used to sell solos.

The better quality your list - the better you'll do.

At the moment, there are a lot of people trying to get into the "solo ad business" because it's easy money. These types of seller don't stay around long due to lower quality lists.

The better your list, the more repeat business and word of mouth business.

I guess solo ads is more lucrative than promoting your own products.

    Hello,

I built my extensive list kind of the old fashioned way (optin on my several home business/making money online websites....

I find if you build the list the right way your list will convert for you and for your advertisers....

I even got to the point to offer exclusive advertising for the month...

    Best wishes!
