Stock Photo Sites

When you buy a photo via stock photo sites. Do they give you some kind of certificate or something. I mean, what is to stop someone from just editing out the watermark, using it that way?

    If you were going to steal the pictures like that why not just take them from peoples sites or Google without the watermark..

    the watermarked images from stock sites are also (as far as I have seen) a much lower quality than a standard image.

    Just get you hands in your pocket or take you own pictures.

      Hi Alan,

      When you buy a stock photo, you'll get a receipt from your payment processor - and, maybe, from the stock photo guys, too. That's your proof you are a bone fide buyer.

      Also (and this includes when the photos are free - for example on Microsoft or MorgueFile), I recommend taking a screenshot of the license (including the date and time) to show that, when you downloaded the pix, you were conforming to the license terms.

      The same procedure should be used with PLR and MMR stuff, which is another minefield!

    I buy mine from photodune.net and yes, every image has a license certificate you can download if you want to.

    I always keep the receipts in a separate file just to avoid confusion in the future but most of the photo stock photos have a copy of license to be downloaded...

    That's a good question, I use to think about that as well.
    I buy stock photos from Fotolia.
    Basically, they just give me the link to download the purchased photos without anything else.
    Besides, I don't notice any watermark.
