My Internet Business Journey So Far! Please Reveiw

Hi Warriors,

It's been a while since I posted on here. I have been trying to get things right. Sometime ago I posted on how I made sum bucks writing articles on fiverr; so I decided to take a step further by having a business I can at least control so here is what I have done:

1. I created a blog victoraginadotcom or please see my signature to critisize.
2. I have integrated Google adsense ads and konga affiliate network.
3. I have been commenting on blogs, the website rank is beginning to show on alexa, it's just about a month old
4. I have created several pages intended to capture email for 4 different ebooks I would create to sell.
5. I have also listed some services like content writing, website development etc.
6. I linked my feedburner to a weber so I can capture emails and have them get an email of my posts; I also intend to sell to this list; just have over 8 subscribers at the moment on feedburner.

Future plans: I would love to create a major product on how you can profit from internet business. Is it wise to do a pre-lunch?

I plan to create more products depending on the needs of my subscribers.

I plan to sell adspace and do content marketing when I start generating more traffic; at the moment the traffic stands between 100-200 daily visitors.

Please I would appreciate your input on my development.

Thanks

You seem to be on the right track, at least for the kind of business model you're pursuing.

I'm not personally a big fan of the pop-up opt-in form. I'd rather see it at the top of the sidebar.

As far as making a product, just understand that you need to build up some authority and connections (preferably with affiliate marketers) before trying to make any significant sales. Just making a product doesn't do much. If you don't have the authority/connections, you'll need a good amount of money for advertising the product.

Just keep thinking of ways you can get ongoing income by doing the work once. The biggest problem I have with the blogging model is it seems like people are more busy than a normal job and still not making any money. Work hard in the beginning, but then think of ways to streamline things/outsource/put money back into the business.

Thanks a lot John for the comments, I sure would stick to the points enumerated.

      Cheers

I think it sounds like you're on the right track, and I congratulate you for having 100-200 visitors after just 1 month! Are you using social media as well to drive traffic to your site?

As for the pop-up email opt-in comment, they definitely will drive up your amount of subscribers, but at the same time it can be annoying if you're unable to control how often the pop up actually shows while the reader is on the blog...one suggestion for getting more subscribers (whom you can also then develop a relationship with and sell your products to) is to offer some incentive for subscribing (ie, free e-book giving away useful knowledge, etc.).

Another great way to get subscribers is in addition to offering your free e-book on your blog, why not offer it as a free WSO? Just make sure it offers value. Once you create a subscriber list, you can then ask to promote products for other affiliates, and by the time you are ready to launch a paid product, they hopefully will also return the favor!

Hope my suggestions are of some use Marjorie

        Hi marketempowered,

Thanks a lot for your contribution and compliments. Yes I do promote my posts on Linkedin, facebook and twitter automatically using an auto-post plugin. The pop up subscription only shows up once and won't show again on the same ip after it's closed. I acknowledge the points you highlighted above and would stick to them. Thanks

You're off to a good start. Since it's an IM blog, I would remove the adsense as it pays too little for the cost of having people leave your site.

The advice about the popup is very true. I never read them or even consider opting in before I see content. I didn't opt in to your page, but I liked the content and might have if I had been presented a delayed popup.

I'd recommend adding your photos to the administrator/author spots on your blog. Without those pictures, it looks like you don't care about this blog at all, which it looks like you do, so I'd put some pics in there.

If you're wondering about how you'll make money without adsense? Create some products or offer coaching if you aren't already.

It looks like you are making nice progress.

I took a quick look at your blog and one recommendation I would suggest is to make your popup stand out more. The colors blend with the background, especially the white. A border around the white near the optin may help to separate it from the website. A green arrow instead of a blue might increase optins as well.

Also, as someone suggested here, the ads might be a turnoff to someone in the IM niche.

        Good luck!

Create a product when you know exactly what you're doing and exactly how you're going to teach it to others. Right now you're following steps, and you've seen a small amount of results. That's not enough to qualify you to teach others how to run a business.

Let hucksters run down that failed path. Keep doing what you're doing for now.

While you spend time reading people's signatures on a forum someone else is working to make the money you could have made.

Like MarketEmpowered said, you are doing well. Sometimes you have to keep on doing what you are doing for quite a few months before you start to make any sort of decent money. If you stick with it, at the rate you are going, you will definitely see money coming in.

Meh. I don't like the theme much - too "square" for my taste. And, um, you're teaching me about IM - but you're asking me about it too, right here.

It actually doesn't look too terrible - but I would suggest keeping AdSense, and throwing Konga out the window, or throwing both out and monetizing with affiliate products.

No offense, but my blog is 2 weeks old, it's on (relatively) the same topic and I'm 18 million ahead of you (but that still sucks, lol ). You need to step up your game.

Eight subscribers in one month?? Don't you have an incentive? Aren't you trying to drive traffic? STEP up your game!

No, I would consider it wiser to do a "pre-launch". I've never done well with pre-lunches, personally. Bad for the stomach.

Really? Then why does Alexa rank suck so much?

Anyway, start content marketing NOW - how else do you think you're gonna generate traffic?

P.S. You're selling "search engine optimized" content. I don't see anything optimized about your website.

Sorry if I've been a little bit harsh with you, but I only mean this as constructive criticism. My mistakes have been 100x worse than yours.

    Go get 'em, tiger!
