How can i include the user's Name when sending an email to the subscribers?

Example: if the Subscriber name is Jack , the email would have jack written in its text

"Hey jack...."

  • When you write the name, there should be an option called "variables". Variables include words/phrases that differ from subscriber to subscriber, such as first name, last name, sub's IP, sub's e-mail ID, etc.

In my autoresponder, just click on the variable "First Name" and it appears in the text. For me, it looks something like "$first_name". It might be different from AR to AR.
  • I actually stopped doing this some time ago, because I found a lot of people were not putting their correct names in anyway. That said if it is their real name then it will become far more personal.

When a subscriber replies to one of my mailings I always reply back and then I do use their name because obviously I see it in the email.

    • Agree with this.

Anyway, is just a variable you have to include in the subject referring to the database field. It should not be difficult.
  • I agree with the post above. Too many people don't put in their real names. It will start looking funny, like: Hi jiejfie,

Instead, just make it general but directed to one person, so they don't feel like it's just a mass email.
  • Nowadays subscribers doesn't use they real name to subscribe, they just put fake one as long as they can get to the download page.
  • Personally, I always ask for name in opt-in form and include the personalisation in any emails I send out subsequently.

If people want to put in a fake name or something, that's OK as they are probably unlikely to take any notice of follow-ups and broadcasts if all they wanted was the download or unsubbed immediately after download.

Those who have given a real name are the people who want to remain subscribed and likely to appreciate the personalisation I'd say.

    Win some, lose some.
  • I agree with Andy..smart move to get their real names ..
