I am getting tons of advertisements in my email for Legal pages that are going to required starting in Jan 2014. Is there any truth into this. I thank you for any help.

They are probably referring to California's "Do Not Track" disclosure being required January 1st.

I have a post on my law blog about it:

And another brief post on the Warrior Forum blog where you can get a copy of the law:

Thanks. The way these ads are worded is that this is a FTC rule. They even state that you can be sued and even put in jail if you do not comply.

I am still getting about 2 emails a day promoting the same product. Is anyone else experiencing this?
    Thanks

I'm not, no, sorry. Out of interest did you read the articles Brian linked to?

I ask because he's a lawyer, therefore it doesn't really matter how your emails are cleverly worded or who else might be getting them.

They're trying to sell you a product.

Very interesting thread and amazing that the sales page for these Legal Pages make no mention of the fact that the January changes only represent one state in the USA.

I must say general scare tactics like these tend to put me off buying completely.

Although it would only be applied to websites that serve visitors from California, if you are not deliberately blocking California residents from accessing your website and if you are not successful in blocking California residents, I believe precedent has been set for the State of California to reach beyond its own borders to enforce its state laws.

I am not an attorney, but we do know that the U.S. government has enforced its laws on people who live outside the U.S.
