What about WSO Affiliates With 1% or Less Conversion Rate?

Warrior Pro has a cool feature for WSO sellers where you can see the conversion rates for potential affiliates.

I have seen a number of affiliates with conversion rates around 1%, or even less.

Anyone have any thoughts about such affiliates? My inclination is something is very wrong with their marketing.

From my experience, it seems most affiliates promoting by email have a 10% or higher conversion rate.

So far I have mainly ignored these affiliates as it could be inviting trouble. But what is your experience?

As long as it is not 0%, there is still some hope. Maybe they just haven't found the right product to match their traffic profile. The biggest problem many marketers commit is building traffic around products when it should be the other way around.

Be cautious with affiliates with a low conversion rate'. If you have affiliates sending traffic that doesn't convert, or doesn't convert WELL, this can hurt YOUR EPCs.

If your EPC is too low (because affiliates are sending low quality traffic) then that makes it harder for YOU to recruit GOOD affiliates who CONVERT.

That's funny, I actually had an affiliate apply that W+ said had 0% conversions and 1000-5000 sales. I dunno, I'm guessing the system rounds down. If they are getting large number of sales, I'm happy to work with them, regardless of where they are coming from.

I'm not comfortable. To me it suggests cookie stuffing or maybe spam. Why would I want to risk my business and accounts because some moron spammed millions to get a few sales?

But maybe it is bot traffic driving down their conversion rates?

If someone has 1000 sales and a .1 conversion rate, that means they generated 1,000,000 clicks. If the conversion rate was rounded down to zero, you' re looking at 5,000,000 clicks (maybe a lot more).

These are clicks. Assuming a 10% click through rate on whatever promotion is going on, we are now looking at tens of millions of impressions.

Even a 1% conversion rate, which many of these affiliates are below, is 100,000 clicks probably requiring over a million impressions.

Typically, these affiliates do not have a track record on the forum to evaluate.

Just writing these numbers out has reinforced my feeling this is asking for trouble.

They may not be promoting via email and most of them may even be new to internet marketing so I would give them a chance to see how they do on your product.

That is just crazy! Why would he want to risk pushing super affiliates away with low EPC'S?

I just caught an affiliate who was sending unsolicited spam and the spam consisted of a fake AWeber confirmation link. When you clicked it redirected to the WSO offer.

This sort of deception will obviously create a very low EPC. It's one way to explain an affiliate needing a boatload of clicks to account for their sales with an extremely low EPC

Why would a "super affiliate" have a .1% conversion rate when a "normal" affiliate is coming in at 10%? Doesn't sound so super to me to have a 100 times lower conversion rate.

It really depends because I have found that people with a conversion percentage less than 1% are usually to serial refunders... especially on here in the WSO section. You should only approve affiliates who you know or who have contacted you.

I tend to look at the whole picture...

For example, if they have lots of activity on the forum and a decent amount of sales and they did a good job explaining how they planned to promote when requesting then I will be more likely to approve them...

On the reverse, if they have very little activity on the forum and they didn't take the time to explain their promotion tactics then I will be more likely to NOT approve them.

I definitely think that you are on the right track with your thinking. As these affiliates might be doing something they shouldn't - but it could also be a case where they "used" to do things differently and now they are doing them "legit".

If you are kinda on the fence and aren't sure which way to go what I do is I reach out to the affiliate via PM. A legitimate affiliate will respond to your PM and give you more information to help you make an informed decision. Some will never get back to you and then it's an easy decline.

I have had some affiliates who stats were questionable and I reached out to them and asked how they planned to promote and they ended up being decent affiliates.

It really comes down to judgement and I think you're on the right track with your line of thinking and no one can blame you for not approving these affiliates. Also, if you do plan to approve these affiliates then I wouldn't approve them when you first launch your WSO I wait until the "buzz" dies down so these affiliates don't "ruin" your conversions before it even gets off the ground.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    Coby

My experience is that out of over 950+ affiliates I have in my Warrior Plus, only about 15-20 of them have produced notable results. 90%+ of Warrior Plus affiliates are time wasters. I don't mean to sound harsh but based on my experience, that's the reality. Most people who request to approve your product will never send you even one sale. So as they always recommend, only ever approve affiliates you know. You set to lose a lot more than you set to gain by approving random affiliates.

My email addresses used for the wso section has been passed around like a 20 cent hooker. In other words, A LOT.
