Paying for targeted traffic rather than generating it?

I know this is subjective but for someone just getting

started, is it better to do PPC than wait for traffic?

Thanks.

I'm a paid traffic guy. But make sure you do your research before you dive into PPC. It is a tricky game, one I still struggle to master. Facebook and solo ads are where I spend my time and dollars.

The quickest way to earn money onliine is through PPC. Generating free traffic is a slow process and sometimes with no guarantee of success.

While PPC can certainly become the most valuable traffic source, it's also the most expensive to develop. Be very careful when you're just getting started and do some research on campaign optimization techniques beforehand. It's very easy to spend a whole lot of money on a poorly optimized campaign and come out a loser at the end.

PPC is great if you know what you're doing - to fill the time in which it takes for you to start generating organic traffic. Of course, if you get great ROI, it's the better long-term choice because it's a lot less work.

I've done both and both can be lucrative, yet one is instant (paid) and the other takes time to build (free).

For paid traffic, as the others mentioned, it can take some time to learn and understand. Set a test budget so you do not quit before you learn the ropes. If you go into it knowing you will lose some money in the beginning tweaking your campaigns to see what works best, you will stay motivated. Testing is the best way to learn after you have a solid understanding of the principles.

I would suggest starting with Facebook ads and possibly Bing before any other methods.

Like anything else, paid traffic strategies take a little time to learn, but they will get you tons of targeted, instant traffic.

Essentially all traffic is paid either with your money or your time. PPC is definately a faster way to get traffic and free traffic methods will take longer and will require your time so they are not free in the long run.

You can first buy some targeted visitors, see the conversion rate, and only then see if it's worth to devote a lot of time to generate the free traffic.

a lot depends on the targeting. I think there can be some wonderful values when you find websites that are run by individuals that have a lot of traffic in a niche. I have one such site where as the seller of advertising I get a lot more money from Direct Sales to advertisers, rather than from sources like adsense. The hardest part is finding these nites websites that will truly reflect and audience that would be interested in your product or service. Research can really go a long way in something like this.

PPC is one of the fastest ways (and most targeted) ways to drive traffic to any offer. But if you are new, there is a learning curve.

When I was new, I spent almost $11K just to learn PPC on adwords.

Then they kicked everyone off it (affiliate marketers)

If you have a fair sized budget, it will still take some time to learn how to do paid media.

Start with small campaigns to find out what works.

Traffic from SEO not only takes time but is also unpredictable, especially traffic from Google.

With the kind of changes that Google makes its not easy to rank and maintain rankings even for a medium competition keywords .

Getting traffic from diverse sources is the best way to avoid Google penalty wiping your traffic & business overnight.

    Hi B,

#1 - PPC is a quick way to generate traffic.

#2 - You are not "waiting" for anything. You bust your tail to create value through blogging, and social networking, build a name, remain patient, and then absolute torrents of traffic flow in.

It takes work, and patience, but now I get 14,000 page visits daily on some days because I created value and made connections.

PPC is quicker, having a name, and going the free route, is everlasting. So I like 2 because once I hit publish I do not have to pay a cent, people storm my blog.

You can actually build serious authority through PPC too; each time however you need to pay to play, which is neither good or bad, just not lasting, like when you build a brand through blogging and social media.

    Hope this helps!

Even I think paying option is best for getting easy & targeted traffic. Organically ranking your keywords in search engine is too long process and no one can give guarantee about it. PPC, FB ads is best option to reach targeted audience.

I personally am a native SEO kinda person. I have been in business partner relationships where PPC was used. The bottom line is if you are just starting and have the income to learn PPC, turn the faucet on! That being said, you should at the same time learn and start the SEO process. My new catch phrase is....

PPC will get you through today, SEO will get you through tomorrow!

I keep hearing SEO sucks because Google changes and I loose all my traffic. To me its kinda like saying I built a site for acatia berries and the fad died out. Building a web site for a fad niche, and developing SEO for the current Google Algorithm, to me are one in the same. In time you will loose your traffic flow.

SEO to ME, is more than the current Algorithm, its developing across all of the variables to stabilize your SEO even through the changes. Not very often does Google change the variables, they change the weight of the variables. Learning what all the variables are, and developing site SEO to all of the variables is how you stabilize and or increase your positioning.

Hope that helps, and GOOD LUCK with your adventure!

Thanks for all you guys responses.

I agree that creating your content is the best

to not have Google wipe out your business overnight.

PPC only lasts a for amount of dollars you put up.
