Disqus or Facebook Comment plugin

Hi.

I would like to know from fellow warriors on their experience of using Disqus and FB comment plugin. I am going to launch a new health blog site but I am not sure which comment service should I use?

If from your experience can guide me which one is best to choose. I am definately looking for something which is easier to use and can attract traffic in turn. As of now, I have narrowed down to FB comments but would like to hear opinion.

P.S. : Anyone using Promoted Discovery of Disqus? How is it?

Thanks a lot.

Well if it is a health related blog then I wouldn't recommend Facebook.

People may visit health blogs to get help for something embarrassing and what's worse than all your Facebook friends finding out about that?

Disqus is good if your site is having good traffic and well established. But it wont help you that much to get new referral traffic as would a facebook plugin do. Since, you are planning to go for health blog, then you can surely go for facebook plugin and can later switch to disqus if you want.

Promoted discovery is really great. Can provide you additional stream of income which you can reinvest in your blog.

Looking forward for additional inputs about Disqus especially in terms of traffic and social media integration. By the way I already switch my comment system into Disqus but I would like to hear some additional insights about this system.

I prefer using Facebook comment plugin because people will make comment in the posts and will automatically post on Facebook.

From experience when I tested Facebook Comments plugin and Disqus, I got more interaction from users when I used Disqus.

I think the thing with Facebook is people are worried friends and family will see what they type. And although the Facebook plugin offers an option to not post to Facebook, people still worry that it will some how be visible. I have never left a comment on a site via Facebook Comments myself, and I know there are loads of people like me. Although I do leave comments very often on sites that don't use Facebook's Comments.

Sometimes people who comment like to use a pen name, for whatever reason, and with Facebook that's not possible.

I will always use Disqus, or a custom comment plugin, on my sites.

This has been my experience as well I installed a facebook comment plugin and since then have gotten far fewer comments on my posts. I think a lot of people only share certain things on facebook and are scared that other stuff will show up there. Also, it could be that many of my readers don't use facebook.
