Squeeze page: free report vs. video course

I know somebody is going to say "just test both and see what converts better" but I'm going to ask this anyway. Do you think my squeeze page should give away a free ebook/report or a free 7-day video course? The reason I wanted to make a video course was to be able to build a relationship with my new subscribers but I can do that by simply have a good report, good content in follow up emails and good blog posts. I would have both but I've been lacking the motivation to sit down and record the video course. So do you think I can get by with just the report and still have people stay on my list (not unsubscribe right after downloading the ebook) and actually be excited to receive more follow up content? Also I am asking because what do you think would convert better: a squeeze page that says "free report" or "free video course"? Your thoughts and suggestions please!

Neither. It sounds like your heart isn't in this project, and that's going to show in whatever product you issue. If you want to excite potential subscribers, find something you can believe in and that motivates you.

That's not necessarily true. I shouldn't have said I've been lacking the motivation but really just I haven't had the TIME to do it because I've been busy with a lot of different projects. I actually am passionate about this, but I have been working on it for a long time and just want to get this thing launched.

I've found that video courses convert better. That's simply one man's opinion, though.

Give a free ebook then after building a relationship with your list sending a video course.

I agree with NetPusher, offer the report as the download and the video course as your offer.
Do you have a back end offer setup?

I myself prefer video over PDF when I see a squeeze page. B/c more people choose listening than reading I guess. Of course not all.

    You already know the answer.

Test. It's the only way you will know.

What we prefer means nothing. All that matters is what YOUR audience prefers and it will be different in every market.

I've always thought Video course is more valuable than free report, however it's the value that matters!

At the end of the the day , what matters most, is are you doing your part for your subscriber?

It actually depends on your product and traffic. From my experience a quality text copy with an optional video for those who are lazy enough to read the copy is the best way to convert traffic.

Testing, Testing, Testing but generally, video courses convert better and a 7 day or 30 day series convert better than a free report.

What not give both to subscribers?

In fact, I like reports and don't like take long time to watch a video.

You can get just as many subscribers with the free report and get your subscribers engaged as well. Here is how they will eagerly wait for your next email:

I treat my emails as educational pieces. You don't have to go overboard and send them long emails with complete strategies but...

treat each email as giving a great little tip and end each email with something like this:

"look for my email which I will send in a couple of days because in that I will teach you how to "......"

I am using this strategy and my email open rate is above 30% and click throughs are above 20%.

    Hope it helps.

Video courses usually suck and too time consuming. I can read a report and get more from it so I personally would be more inclined to optin to a squeeze page with a report.

I believe a combination of the two could be the best option. The subscribers are going to want something quality the second they sign up. It's all about that instant gratification, and letting them know you can offer them something they need.

So either you are going to have to really provide something good with that first video or go the more complete, digestible ebook route and then run through a video course of sorts.

Either way, it's whatever you think can capture them from the second they sign up.

It really depends on the offer and the traffic you get onto the site.

Some of the most performing squeeze pages were ones which targeted really passionate niches like dog owners or sport fans.

Software giveaways are also working like crazy for lead capture because of the instant gratification.

You can buy cheap (but good) plugins or softwares on codecanyon.com for this.

Really don't think it matters - I have had both convert very well and have had others (in both categories) that have bombed...what matters MUCH more is problem/challenge/desire you are targeting and how well you do at communicating the value of what you have to offer. Honestly - it really won't matter a great deal what the format is - if you capture the attention of a person trapped in the desert and can offer them water - you will get the lead.

  • I'm pretty good at doing screen capture video so I tend to use them for squeeze pages and with my blog posts. In my experience I've seen higher conversions when I walk people through a concept or a given make money offer I'm pushing via video. There is a connection you can easily create with video. Furthermore seeing is believing. When you can show that you've literally implemented a given technique or made money with a given opportunity, it gets people going. They can't help but think, well if you can do it, so can I.

The other advantage of videos is that it differentiates you from everyone else who gives out those low quality pdf PLR reports. I hate reading that crap. Videos take more work and thus will have more value. And because most marketers are too lazy to do them, it gives you a distinct advantage.

At the end of the day test. But in my experience videos work way better for all my marketing efforts.

I like the free report/ebook model. Just my style. Too lazy to put up a video.

But to be totally unbiased... i think you can make alot of money with either one of them. Both still work today, and you will get leads from both. Choose one, test it for a whole year.... then choose the other and test that one for a whole year. Whichever one brings you the most money, roll with that one for all of eternity.
