You'll Be Surprised What Info People Need

I just got an email from YouTube. It was somebody posting a comment on
one of my videos saying, "Thank you...it was just what I needed."

The video was nothing more than showing people how to setup Adsense
Channels.

Point is, just because something is simple and no big deal to you doesn't
mean there isn't somebody out there who is looking for that information. A
simple video demonstration, no matter how trivial you might think it is could
land you an extra subscriber to your list or even a future customer.

There are plenty of little odds and ends out there like this. Just go to
forums, like this one, and look to see what people are asking. If you know
how to do it, and it's something that can easily be visually demonstrated,
put together a short video.

The one I did took all of 10 minutes between recording it and processing
it. The upload took another couple of minutes.

Value what you know...because there is somebody out there who needs it.

  • Great point you are making here!

Sometimes it baffles me when people ask questions to things that to me its the most simple stuff!

Even things like this when there is written explanations all over the adsense site a video tutorial makes it so much easier too.

Also it takes me back to when i was once new to the game and didn't understand anything. Now im the one explaining these things to other people.

  • Lord, yes. One of my sites gets an amazingly steady flow of traffic from a lame-assed little 30-second Camtasia video on how to right-click and Save Link As.
  • Yeah, I've seen that too. Many people asked me how to change themes in wordpress, how to edit the site's title and although those things were easy for me, they didn't seem to be that easy for them.

    Good point!
  • Good observation Steven but sometimes simple comments are just spam from Youtube comment software. I'm not negative on that aspect but doing videos is really a great way to add traffic to your site or to your products/services. Keep adding more because it is not a waste of time!

    • You're right Ross, there is a lot of spam crap from YouTube and I always
delete them (they are so easy to spot) but this one was legit. Granted, it
was only the 2nd comment I had received on it, but I have had 669 views
so far and does come up number 1 at YouTube if you look up Adding Adsense
      Channels or something similar.

Ironic as I did this simply in reply to a forum post here from somebody
who was looking for how to do it. I figured it wouldn't take long so I
      threw one together.

I should probably do more of these but I'm just so darn lazy these days.
  • It's the small practical things that we often take for granted and yet those are exactly the types of information that newbies or less technical individuals need. Sometimes those of us who have gorwn up with technology or use it everyday forget that the simple things we take for granted are a big leap for others.

    • Thanks for posting this, Steven!

As someone who produces "How To" guides and videos, it was somehow lost to me that a short, simple "How To" video posted on YouTube is the best way to connect with my market.

Got wrapped up in trying to convert articles into videos and producing something flashy that I couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Thanks for the slap in the head

  • yes, help and get helped. that's how it works.
  • What a great post.

Thank you for sharing that with us, I found it to be a eye opener.
  • On one forums I've over 4k posts each of them answering questions on mostly trivial things. Yes, people don't know stuff, you can do a how-to article or a video about almost anything and it will be useful to someone.

Now come to think if I got each of those 4k people to subscribe to get an answer...

    • Your point is really true, and it's too easy to forget that not everyone else knows what you know... Case in point, last night my GF was giving a seminar on various aspects of investing and financial planning, and what's obvious to her and to me was not obvious to the crowd, and they had some serious breakthrough's in their understanding and education on the topic - stuff that she and I take for granted that "everyone" must know... but they just don't!

  • I have trained people that I say, ok now open a browser...

One guy said "what is a browser?"

Since then I step my products down 1000 notches in complexity.

I suspect that the complete beginner market for any niche is way larger and urgent - and they are not well catered to.
  • Absolutely true that a rank beginner has a hard time finding SIMPLE and CLEAR and STEPWISE instructions for tasks that now are second nature to those with experience. I never stop learning, and videos are a great way to learn. YouTube has been vital to my internet marketing knowledge.
  • The Camtasia videos are great for explaining step-by-step (click by click) how to do something. For example, I saw one the other day on how to install a script and set up a database. The person doing the video is actually perfoming each step, so they do not skip steps and it is very informative and enjoyable.
  • That is so true. Sometimes the most routine task to us is a major roadblock for someone else. I also find Camtasia videos to be the most helpful to users. I just made a few videos for people who purchased my Wordpress Real Estate Investor websites and they can access them 24/7 and I am free to do other things.

    • Steve you wouldn't beleive it would you?

It's the simple things that catch the attention of the real information seekers.
  • It does not surprice me - if you'll look at WordTracker - you'll discover that more than 3000/day people looking for methods to CLEAN A PENNY!
    So stupid....
  • Steven,
    Great post!
If I may add my 2 cents to that, K.I.S.S. works.
For those who are wondering what K.I.S.S. means, watch this following video

YouTube - KISS: Keep it simple, stupid!
  • I dont want to sound like a newb, but I am so oh well.

I dont quite understand the adsense channels and I would most definetly benefit from a video walkthrough like that. lol.

    Thanks.
