I created a free ebook on my blog and got a few email to start a list. Now what?

Additional info: I'm creating a 2nd ebook in the future that I will charge for.

meanwhile build more subscribers. people offers many different freebies before they charge for ebook and you have just offered one ebook it's not going to help your list to grow.

Don't get them used to freebies too much though!
You want to turn them into buyers and not people that will only expect free stuff from you.
You can promote different affiliate products in the mean time...
And don't forget about providing value to the list as well.
    Good luck

    How small is small?

Anyway start by emailing them more often. Two to three times a week will be a great start and then sell something to them.People are not afraid to buy especially when you have been built trust with them over time and that happens through regular communication.

    I hope this helps

Leverage your small list by ad swapping with other list owners in niches that are compatable. Your small list could exponentially grow into a much bigger one.

keep building your list... you need more subscribers per day than unsubscribers....
drive different traffic to your squeeze page and track it...
and send out some affiliate offers so your list is used to get some sales mails from you...
as soon as your second ebook is done you can promote this to your growing list...

Obviously depends on a lot of things like what you do, what niche you're in etc...

But I say build a strong core fan base from your mini tribe. Obviously keep building your list, but I wouldn't be too aggressive on the monetization end if you are new.

Whats a few? 2 or 3 hundred or 2 or 3? If you have a couple hundred then you can start mailing them, if you have a hand full focus on building a bigger list first.

How small/big is your list? How did you get this list?

Are you sure they are buyers and not wasting time collecting freebies?

Give it a couple of shots and try to sell them something. Then wait for 3 days and try to sell them something else.

See the response, you get. This will let you know if you have a good list or a worthless one.

    All the best. Regards.

Sounds like you're putting the cart before the horse. You're building a list but have yet to set out the purpose of doing so. Keep building, but sit down and think about what you're doing.

  • I just wanted to say the same.

You started at the wrong end. Usually you first have a product you want to promote and than you try to promote it with email marketing. You donĀ“t start with email marketing first, while not precisely knowing what to accomplish with this tool.

You have the right idea that building a list is the correct way to grow your business. Take the advice given above and think about where you want to be, and use the resources in this forum to get there.
Look for ad swaps in your niche. See if there are solo ads available if you have the funds available. Build on and nurture your list so you can sell to them time after time as they come to trust you.

Now that you've got your list started, focus more on building/driving traffic to your blog and increasing your list.

I'd enter these emails into an autoresponder and continue to send out the amazing content. Around your 6th or 7th email, I'd slip in an affiliate product that they'll have to pay for.

A small list is a good start, send free content to this list and keep expand it until you have a bigger list, by then you can promote affiliate products to your list.

use a email marketing tool like mail chimp or a similar one, ensure you use a auto responder and reply to any responses with in a fixed time always, add a remove me from mailing list below the mails....and if anybody request to remove from mailing list do that immediately and keep on adding new emails to list. If you do not do that if few mark you as spam then your entire activity will go waste...

Take that free ebook and put it on youtube so that you can get optins from there to. Keep building your list. If you have nothing to sell then keep in touch with your subscribers with a monthly news letter.

Try to make your list go viral, give out a free product if they refer a friend, things like that.

    Hi,

Are you saying your not emailing them yet?

If so I would start thinking about setting up an email sequence
at least 10 messages that give great tips, tricks, share your stories/personality
and sprinkle in some promotional links too.

Look at offering a high converting affiliate offer within those emails at least
and then look at creating your own products and then selling those to your
    list as you move forward.

It is a good idea to have a paid product from the very beginning. Together with your free stuff. The subscribers will not take you seriously if you give them only free products. Have 1 free and the other as a bonus (discounted paid product).

And yes, grow your list. Invest some money in solo ads. Safe-Swaps is a good place to buy solo ads and do ad swaps.
