For those doing Offline Marketing...do you offer OTOs?

I was just thinking today that I would take another "online concept" offline with my marketing...

Instead of sitting down with my clients and laying out the whole package for them and getting them all confused with too much info...

I think I'll focus on selling them the benefits of simply getting an autoresponder setup at a fairly affordable price...

and then when they agree and the cheque/credit card is ready to come out...THEN explain the benefits of SEO/Video/Blog Marketing and how it would help to increase traffic / list building with the new autoresponder but offer them it a discount price with a "lower setup fee" etc if they take the offer while setting up the autoresponder...

I find when I mention autoresponders, SEO, and everything all together they get so excited that they panic at the "tasty menu" in front of them...

Thoughts? Anyone offering bite-sized upsells through the offline marketing sales process?

Keep it simple and create an offer that it's easy for offline
business owners to say yes to.

I find that offering them an e-mail follow-up system is
something they easily 'get' and can see tremendous
    value in.

Once they decide to become a customer then of course
I'll offer them additional backend services such as web
    design.

I do NOT however use or believe in using OTO's online
or offline - that's my own personal choice.

After all, OTO stands for One-Time-Offer.

To me an OTO reeks of false urgency and high pressure
sales which is just not how I choose to do business.

Others differ on this and that's their choice.

Me? I'll make the first sale easier, have a backend of
additional services that the client can buy when the time
    is right for them.

Maybe...if that's what gets them excited.

The real secret is the get to know the business and the business owner by asking questions (that also builds rapport) then start making suggestions until you hit on one the business owner gets excited about and run with that.

You're right that you don't have to start with a big service upfront.

Once you're doing work for a business owner you can get hired to do project after project or even set up some kind of monthly fee for your ongoing help...or both.

The only potential problem with what you're suggesting is that you can actually lose quite good clients by thinking in too rigid a fashion..."this is the service I'm offering upfront and that's all".

That kind of thinking isn't necessary if you're just asking questions and listening.

You'll see a whole pile of ways you can help a business and you only need to suggest simple ideas until you find one that gets the business owner excited.

Email marketing IS something that gets many business owners excited but there are still many who will see it as spam no matter what you tell them.

For those it's best to move onto another idea like SEO or online video marketing etc etc.

      Kindest regards,
