Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I'm a journalist who would want to get in to writing articles for internet marketing. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice? I'd like to get some hints on what to think about when I write such an article, how to form them and also where I can find someone who needs articles written?

Thanks!

    1. writing articles for the web is a little diffrent because the keywords in the text matter.
    2. There are lots of people looking for article writers. You can find these people on Elance.com, guru.com and forums.
    3. you can also write articles and send the traffic to your own website and sell products/ sell ad space/ do affiliate marketing.

Go over to Ezinearticles.com and check out some of the articles over there. That's probably a good example of what people are looking for when it comes to articles for internet marketing. There's some really crappy ones over there though so look through a lot of them so you can get an idea of the better stuff.

Then, when you want to offer your services, you might try offering them here at the Warrior Forum. I think there is a classified section or you could try a WSO to gain clients.

People here are always looking for good writers.

      Thank you both.
That seems to be a good way for starting. I've done both marketing and journalism, so I figured this could be the next thing for me to do. Only I have to learn a little more about it first

Another good place to start is to read this Warrior post thread right here. I hope this helps.

In addition to what cashcow said above, when you go to Ezine Articles.com click on one of the categories and the page you arrive on will have a link near the top for top authors in that category.

That will give you an idea of the type and quality of articles being produced by the top authors re number of articles submitted etc. The quality will still vary and may surprise you (as a professional journalist).

Note how the authors are targeting a particular keyword phrase (usually) and how they use the keywords in the title of the article and within the article itself in order to optimize the article for the search engines.

Hope that helps a little (though article marketing on the internet is a big subject).

For someone of your skills, I would use article marketing to market yourself only. Keep in mind that to be paid for article writing you are competing with a lot of writers from other countries who charge $3 - $10 per article.

But what is really needed (and I think a more profitable strategy for you) is someone who can research, write and compile full length reports that range from 10 to 100 pages. You are paid better and the work is probably more in concert with your skills.

In fact, when and if you decide to enter the "real world" as a journalist, you will have amassed a substantial portfolio of paid reports by then.

With journalism, people like to read things that are quirky which has an essence of the author within the context / story.

When it comes to writing articles for I'm you want toremove yourself from the picture a little. Get to the point, offer great information and deliver that information in a simple way.

The people who read articles on the internet are not necessarily big readers so they will digest content differently to those who subscribe to readers digest etc. People on the internet are often looking for info and an answer to a problem... Not a story.

    Hope that helps.

I've got to agree with Marty - if you go the standard Elance, Guru, etc route, I think you might find yourself drastically underpaid. It would be a good idea to position yourself (and educate yourself) as an ebook writer or a copywriter rather than an article writer.
