Hey,
Just wanna know if its a good idea to promote amazon products on a Facebook fan page? 1. I've decided to create a FB fanpage and will name it as 'Jewellery Store ' or something like that.
2. I will spend some money on FB ads to get atleast 20-25K USA fans on my page.
3. Start promoting my affiliate products.
Good idea or not?
Anybody having success promoting his products on FB page? Do they convert well ?

Good question. Been thinking about this myself too. Currently using only SEO but would definitely want to expand to other traffic sources... It's dangerous to let Google run your business isn't it

Here is a WSO called FB AmzShop Creator

It creates a simple Amazon store on you Fan Page. I think it would be worth checking it out to throw up a Simple Amazon store fast and start getting FB ads traffic and see what happens.

See how things go and build from there.

Folks, who do YOU know, personally, that shops on Facebook with companies called "jewelry store"?? That tells you all you need to know about the idea.

That was just an example.. My main question was that if anyone is having success promoting his amazon products on FB page.

I'm sure George Takei is making a killing....

Just about every one of his status updates includes an Amazon affiliate link.

It may help to study some of his tactics.

It's not the affiliate link that is making George the money, it's his celebrity status and the viral nature of his posts combined with the fact that he gets the royalty on the sales whether or not he gets the affiliate commission. In addition he's also promoting his live appearances.

You have to respect George for understanding and working the system like a rock star, but then again he is one.

Without affiliate links, there would be no affiliate commission.

Of course, he leverages his celebrity and status.

The point was that he utilizes specific tactics that can be useful regardless of whether one has celebrity or not.

For example, one such example is that he directs people to read funny reviews of products.

Really, the secret is in getting people to click on a link, to store a cookie. Amazon's internal system is ingenious and fine-tuned to maximize sales. George knows that if he gets people there, there is a high likelihood that they will purchase something.

I couldn't agree with you more... I'm actually trying this as I make this post.. Just waiting on my ad to be approved...

I'm giving the weight loss/fitness niche a shot, but with one hellava an engaging photo... Its positioned for the people to click the image to make it bigger to see the whole body, but they will actually be directed to an Amazon product.

The cookie only last for 24 hours, (dumb) but if they add something to their cart within those 24 hours, you actually have an additional 89 days to get credit for what is in the cart if they choose not to buy immediately..

I will let you know how it goes..

          Holla!

I don't know anyone who shops on Facebook. I suspect very few others do either. People aren't on Facebook to shop.

People aren't on twitter or pinterest to shop either but I've been doing well on both of them. Anyways you gave your opinion. Now I am expecting answers from people who have tried promoting their products on FB. Thats what i was actually looking for

  • I can quote, you will have little luck promoting your website products on Facebook. Facebook just recently changed their algorithm for external page hits, so pages aren't getting nowhere near as much reach as they used to. I am telling you from experience.

Now that Facebook went public, they need to find ways to increase revenue for their shareholders, so you could imagine they all sat around a table full of prawns, oysters and plenty of beer and they came up with the 'BOOST POST' feature that you probably see on the bottom of every post.

This is their approach as follows:
    1. Video links get most reach (because you can't actually send a facebook user to an external source.
    2. Image links, are next for reach.
    3. Link Sharing.

Facebook unless you are paying for boost posts, you will just waste your time.

You are best to cancel your Facebook accounts and head over to Google Plus & Pinterest.

Gotta go ahead a disagree with you. I very rarely boost posts and Facebook makes up a LARGE majority of the 15k-20K visitors I get to my hyperlocal sports blog each month.

  • It may be better to use another angle to sell your jewelry. A fanpage about fashion with occasional affilaite links for instance.

    Something like:

    https://www.facebook.com/thegirlfriendlife

They promote their list and Zappo produkts in their status updates.

Just buying thousands of likes will be probably not enough to get constant traffic. You also have to engage these like with your content. So that they make comments, share pictures etc. and you get in their newsfeed. With a pure store that may be quite difficult to achieve.

That's what I am talking about.. I am looking forward to start a page like you mentioned, where I could post the images along with the link to my affiliate product. Secondly, I'll try my best to keep the fans engaged. Just wanted to know if this idea is worth it because I don't want my $2500 (spent on FB ads to increase likes) to be wasted
I have seen some other pages doing the same thing for example : https://www.facebook.com/Love.Makes.Family
