Sending emails at the same time as signed up?

For my autoresponder emails, I usually select for them to be sent "same time as sign up".

Is this a good option? Is it better to set a time?
Or does this not really matter?

Are you referring to the follow up messages, as in the first
message after they confirm? Then this (one) message should
go out same time as sign up. But I hope you are not thinking
about sending all the messages in the series at the same time.

It is very common practice to send FIRST EMAIL in the follow up series at the time they sign up and confirm.

Also it is a common practice to send latest newsletter/offers at the time of signing up.

"same time as sign up" is the best you can do.

The open rate for the first email is usually extremely high.

Somebody signs up and they are eager to read your email now.
    Give it to them.

After a day or two so many things might have happened that they simply forget who you are and what it was all about.

I think what you mean is the time all followups are sent. Yes, I would stick with using the same time as the time they signed up since they have proven it a time they are likely to be online.

This is true. You are basically striking while the iron is hot. It is a good idea that you don't put out any ads in your emails for at least one week or longer. Why? It gives your list members enough time to trust your content. Once you're credible, you can start advertising.
