Mispelled Words Rank High

This may be a dumb question, but when doing keyword research I noticed 1.4k people are searching for a product word spelt completely incorrectly.

ie: barbeque spelt like barbaqu

When I type in the miss-spelt word into longtail pro it gives me a list of sites using the term correctly as "barbeque". Which is obv very competetive and all amazon and top chain stores.

I am just wondering if I used that mispelt word in my title and url, would I rank #1 in google for that term since no one else is using that term because it is not proper english word? Or is google smart and would rank me 0 and auto correct it for people once they search?

Well you might rank #1 for that misspelling but the problem is that anyone who misspells it doesn't get sent to the results for the misspelling, but rather they get automatically redirected to the correct spelling and then have to specifically request for the results of the misspelled word.

So yeah, you'd may rank a lot higher for a misspelling but you don't get the advantage of other people's mistake.

Yes, used to be good but now Google is smarter so many commonly mispelled words get corrected and directed to the right word!

Thanks that was exactly what I was getting at
