Is this an example of a good niche?

Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong section, if it is please move to the right one!

So I'm a web developer working on a large project, but whilst I'm waiting for the time is right to monetize that site, I want something I can use on the side as a more experimental site.

I'm trying to find a good niche that I have an understanding of and want to know peoples thoughts.

Basically, I work at a car sales mainly dealing with one car brand. I know nearly everything about all the models and their different specs etc.

Any suggestions on a niche blog / info site that would work for this?

I was thinking of creating a blog lets take 'ford focus' for example. I would then create different blog posts about all the different specs, information etc.

Would this be niche enough? Or am I thinking in the wrong direction?

Like Eben Page said, a niche is “A need many people have that your product fills.” If there are people interested in Ford Products (and there are!), you can blog on that niche! As long as it is a "niche" and you are an expert in it, you can never be going in the wrong direction. Hope that helps

There is a need for the information, I guess audience would be people looking to buy he certain vehicle.

Was just wondering if it was not too wide a niche and it was specific enough.

Web and hosting is under £20 so worth a go.

You might do something like a comparison site where you help people decide which model is right for them. You could then send them to your dealership (if possible) or negotiate referral fees with other dealers. Charge for the consultation or sell ads, etc.

Heck of a lot of competition, so no guarantee. But I'd add more than just specs. You need to include things like buying tips, common problems, maintenance tips, how to fix parts of the Focus or whatever model, etc.

Hmm, I know there are sites that cater for everyday and just give plain specs.

My aim was to just focus on this specific model and write some posts comparing model levels, all the types of extras, tips on using certain things etc. The information may be out there over forum posts etc. But possibly bringing it together in a site devoted to that one model.

    I can get e.g fordfocusinformation.com

So can keyword it quite nice. Would end up relying on good seo.

If this is too competitive, and suggestions on something that might believe niche within the car category?

Please note, I'm not actually doing it about the ford focus. It's a more narrower make and model vehicle

I would look at it this way... to put up and host the site for a year, how much does that cost? The time you would be writing the articles about the porche 911 is the same time you would be looking up stuff on them, so there is no loss there.

The bottom line is this, can you afford to loose the initial investment and take a risk in your life? Seriously... if you have a pulse and a credit card run with it... You just might get lucky. You cant win if you don't play. No sense crying over spilled milk. Better to have loved, than to have never loved before. I could keep going... Im sure you get the idea!

ok 1 more. An investment in yourself is the best Christmas present you could give yourself.
