Make great ideas prove themselves and avoid being ruined by them.

I love ideas and I hate ideas lol
why? they come to me at 2 am when I am trying to sleep.
They have made me all excited, wasted months of my time and cost me money.
I have watched so many people destroy themselves following an idea for a business or product that it makes me angry and sad.

But I am older and wiser now :-)
New ideas, products or services must convince me to keep them alive!
They must prove they are worthy or they are dead to me.

If I have something I think might fly I do the following:
Launch fast, market immediately, monitor and test various funnels and then drop the duds fast.

For some my recommendation above is stating the obvious BUT yet again I have a business acquaintance that has spent everything he has on an idea yet he has NOT forced that idea to prove itself in any way shape or form.

He makes weekly excused for the idea. The ideas web site is not perfect yet. The ideas software just needs more testing. Other people just don't get the idea yet but they will. He just does not have enough money to get the idea to critical mass. blah blah blah!

This makes me want to mash my face into a wall because the guy is going to lose everything and is convinced that the idea is so good it cannot fail. Sadly in this specific case it is just a bad idea but he has invested so much emotionally that he cannot accept that.

Avoid this trap by trying to sell your idea (product, service, whatever) even if it is not perfect yet, even if the software has bugs, even if the site is only half done. Make the idea prove to you that it has a bit of life and just needs to be scaled. Every successful business does this if you pay attention. As an example has Microsoft ever launched or sold ANYTHING that was finished or perfect? ;-) You do NOT wait, you get sales!
