I report on news and use AdSense. But can't say for sure how profitable it will be if you are focusing on international figures. It depends on what countries most of your visitors live in. Almost all of my traffic is from the US.

Yeah Adsense is the easiest. People click on ads, you get paid.

You can also build a list and push relevant offers to them as an affiliate.

Also there are other publisher networks who's ads you can post on your site in addition to or instead of adsense.

There is money out there waiting for you

You can follow what imnewswatch.com and digg are doing. imnewswatch curates all the latest marketing news and inject WSO ads in the midst of their listings. they have a mailing list whereby they send a daily listing (along with the ads) to the subscribers. This is what Digg is currently doing as well.

Another suggestion is offer an exit offer (e.g. with a 5 sec delay) whenever your visitors click out of your site to check out the news you are offering.

No. WSO's would be terrible for a political news site. That's not the right niche. The reason someone would do that like IM News Watch, is because that is marketing news, not political news.

Follow the Glenn Beck / Alex Jones model.

Pitch things like Health Products, Prepper Products, Investing Products, Hard Drive Backups, Mineral Water, Water Cleansing, things of that nature.

    if you're seriously into that?

Join Glenn Beck's list, AND Alex Jones' list.

    These guys make BANK.

Follow suit and promote the same style stuff they do.

    :]

Adsense is the best option. It will automatically serve the most relevant ads dependent upon geographical location.

You can list your site at buysellads to get some banner ads. If your site has nice PR then you can also think of selling some backlinks.

Google Adsense would be ideal for you. You may exchange link with some greater websites.

If I had a site that has traffic like yours, I'll flip it and make $5000 upwards.

Better you offer advertising spaces and also put adsense on it. I am sure it will work very well.

Analyze the most popular news articles, then post banners/offers related to those popular subjects. These can be in the form of CPA or an affiliate.
