What's your opinion on "Disqus"?

Hey Warriors!

Hope you've all had an amazing Christmas season so far and I'm sure all of you are just as excited about 2014 as I am!

I have a quick question..

If you see the Disqus commenting system on a website, are you more likely to comment or not?

The reason for my question is I've heard a few people say that they won't comment on a site if it's using the Disqus system, so I'm interested to know how you react when you see it being used

For those of you who don't know what Disqus is, click here

All the best!

Joe Crosbie,

    Joe Crosbie,
I used to comment on a couple different news sites and yes, I stopped commenting on both after they implement Disqus - I remember having difficulty setting up my account after they migrated and literally just stopped going there all together.

Probably wouldn't be terrible if you didn't have an established community and still wanted the benefits of a more streamlined posting effort, but if you intend to have a good amount of commenting going on then, as a poster, I'd prefer to see a custom (server-side) platform.

Lots of publishers prefer it because it cuts down on spam. Blog comment spammers who use tools like sb and others get discouraged by it. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters, as far as user engagement is concerned, is the quality of your content.

Nope, i never comment on a disqus comment form. I'm selfish. If i'm going to post on a blog, and if i cant hyperlink to my site from my comment name... i'm not going to do it.

I post on Disqus Joe but prefer getting link juice and my latest link previewed via ComLuv. No better way to expand my brand awareness and boost blog traffic through commenting. Disqus adds another step before you can garner a clickthrough. This is why I switch to ComLuv over a year go. Good read here.

Simply put, no, I wouldnt comment. Never been a fan. I rather use the good old fashioned commenting method, especially if its accompanied by something like Comment Luv.

Disqus avoid spamming so a lot of sites implement them. But again FB commenting tool is also efficient and I use it more often.

Yes! It is true that disqus prevent from spam comments. But Some of the users does not intend to post a comment if it is a disqus. Even for this I have removed disqus from my blog.

Many of the major news sites use Disqus. Maybe they see something smaller publishers aren't seeing? Besides cutting down on spam, it allows for posters to build a community around the sites they comment on.

I've been doing alot more blog commenting and I am with many others, these days I usually avoid those that use Disqus, same for those that use only facebook or Google+. As Randall said, I would like something out of the deal.

Of course I prefer blogs that use CommentLUV, those are by fat the best.

I just signed up to Disqus because I wanted to comment on Cyberchimp's blog. I found it quick and easy.

I don't comment just to drop a link so I guess I don't see the problem others do. If I really wanted to comment, Disqus wouldn't have an effect one way or another.
