Google Penalizes Internal Linking

Does anyone know if theres a penalty for too many internal links to the same page within a single pages content?

I use a lot of text links within content of reviews. Upwards of 15 different text links on a 1000 word article to the same amazon page.

I don't know if there's a Google penalty, but that many links is probably turning off your readers. You don't need to link every instance of the name or product description to be effective.

I usually link the first time I name the product, once more in the call to action at the end, and once from an image. 15-20 links in a single 1,000 word article starts looking desperate.

Kind of like those old banner farms with a couple of dozen banner ads, based on the logic that if one threw enough mud at the wall some might stick.

Now, if you put that article on some 2.0 site and pointed them at a review or something on your site, that wouldn't look natural, would it?

My guess is that Google would simply ignore the links. Keyword: guess.

I understand, I am describing products with a lot of features so it really doesnt look all that unnatural. 1-2 links per paragraph.

I am pretty sure the answer is not but I just want to be sure if theres some kind of hyperlink to same page penalty. Such as there is for keyword stuffing.

Im typically doing a 1% keyword density and 2% link density

Since you are linking out to a major ecomm site, I doubt you'll get penalized unless all your anchor text is the same or some such foolishness. And it doesn't sound like it is. If it works for you, go for it.

Like I said, to me it would look desperate or hopelessly amateur.
