An insight regarding Chargebacks

As a long time Vendor on different affiliate networks i would
like to share an insight regarding Chargebacks.

First, chargebacks always have and always will happen.
Even the best product ever made will suffer from the occasional a#@-hole or stolen credit card charge reversal regardless of anything.

Now, my insight that i would like to share is regarding the chargeback rates on different cards.
Different cards have different chargeback rates, this is the result of the card provider policies (visa, amex, disc, mstr) offer different approaches to charge reversal .Some have it harder than others but there is one card that has a consistantly higher chargeback rate than others and that is AMEX.
AMEX simply allow their users to "refund" aka "chagreback for the vendor"
any product that is purchased with the card online regardless of anything.
I think (as i am not an AMEX card owner) that This is a promise made between Amex and it's customers with full disregard to the sellers.
The result is that AMEX card owners know that they need not to approach the seller to ask for the money refunded, they simply contact AMEX , even if the refund policy is clearly stated and the refund is approachable on the seller's some customers are simply used to contacting AMEX for their refunds. These refunds are chargebacks for the seller.

What i am suggesting and going to ask one of the popular affiliate networks to apply is the ability for the sellers to control the card they accept on the payment page.
For me , and without a doubt AMEX would had been kicked out of that list a long time ago.
If AMEX don't respect sellers there is no reason for the seller to accept AMEX.
Same logic applies to the ELV payment method.

I am really dreaming that in the future businesses will be able to accept bitcoin and other crypto currencies on a wide scale making the transactions more personal between the seller and buyer without all the 3rd party hassle in between...

You are basing this rant on an assumption since you admit you don't know, right?

According to you EVERY Amex chargeback or refund would be won by the customer - there would NEVER be any way for the poor merchant to win. Sounds like a scammer's dream.

But you forgot one little tidbit: Amex needs the sellers so that they can continue selling their interest. Once they can't sell their interest anymore, they are no longer in business.

Here is what i do know.
AMEX cards have (for me and us as a company) the highest chargeback rates, by far (x3) .
I have seen this happen both as a Vendor of several products and as an affiliate of hundreds of products .
If you want, call it a Rant, i care not.
Regarding AMEX's approach for needing the seller, a word comes to mind:"Monopoly".
They care about small sellers as much as google care about affiliate accounts in adwords.

My ONLY point is that if you want to make a recommendation that companies you deal with stop taking American Express, get your facts straight. Don't go in with some kind of feeling or assumption that, on the face of it, just simply can not be true.

Keep emotions out of it. Everyone knows that Google and Amex needs both big guys and little guys. If they didn't need the little guy they would make a requirement of $100,000 minimum ad buys or $100,00 a month sales volume in order to use their services.
