"Your Registration Is Confirmed" Email Subject Lines

I'm getting a lot of emails lately from well-known
marketers with that subject line.

Typically the email says that I'm confirmed for a
webinar or teleseminar that I didn't personally
register for... unless I did it in my sleep!

Often they do include links to events hosted at
services such as GoToWebinar, etc.

I wonder if some "guru" is teaching that tactic.

I'm getting so many that it could become annoying
because if I start ignoring them, I could miss a
reminder for a teleseminar that I really DID sign
up for... or even one that I'm the featured expert
on

  • I'm getting 'genuine' spam that uses that subject line.

Gotta think that's not a good tactic then.

    • I've been getting those for ages now...

It seems like the guru's students are
taking it to the next level...

  • I get those quite a bit, too.

Even funnier is that I get them sent to system emails that I KNOW never registered for anything. Fortunately, my system emails are directed to a folder that I just quickly glance through and then engage in Mass Deletions.

So far, my system emails have been:

    * confirmed to many seminars they didn't register for.
    * notified of login attempts to bank accounts I don't have.
    * informed that a credit card I don't own is expired.
    * asked to confirm orders that I never placed.
    * encouraged to increase the girth and length of my .... uh ... well ...
    * invited to receive funds from deposed South African princes.
    * asked to renew domain names I don't own.
    * and on and on and on ...

The ol' "delete" key really gets a workout. I can't even see the word "Delete" on my keyboard any more!

    • @Peter,

Gotta love the internet -- "genuine" spam.

I've never been much of a fan of trick subject lines. I get so many canned emails now that I have started deleting emails if they even mention certain people's names.

Amazing how my trash bin is full and I have so much more time in the day now.
  • Sorry about that, Willie. I should have asked before registering you for all those events!
  • But Willie...

you DID register for my webinar series all 500 of them. You confirmed in Vegas and Orlando - I have photos and witneses to prove it

  • It's really disappointing to see that subject line being used by well-known marketers. Why work so hard to build up a reputation and then blow it by telling an obvious flat out lie?

    • Well, it doesn't actually say that you signed up, just that you are confirmed!

    • With spamming becoming so intense and intelligent, I the internet will soon open up new career opportunities like Anti Spam Consultant!
