I've used them both as a vendor and affiliate, and to be honest I think they're useful.

    Here's some fast brainstorming:

The main advantage JVZoo has as a vendor is that it's free to list your stuff.

The main advantage clickbank has as a vendor is that you get more automatic affiliates. (At least I have).

JVZoo potentially pays affiliates faster if you get approved for automatic commissions. (clickbank on the other hand pays weekly/biweekly by default).

Pretty vague question. Hard to answer.

It's not the platform, but how the sales page converts.

I do not have extensive knowledge on either, as I usually use my own systems. But I prefer JVzoo, it's no money to list and a small fee per sale. I also prefer to use it as an affiliate.

But on the other hand, Clickbank has the market share, they could bring in more affiliates for product sellers.

It is obviously an opinion based question Ron. Subjectivity was expected. Thanks for commenting on your 'limited experience'.

Both have advantages and disadvantages compared to each other. As buyer I use both. As I think I'll go with CB at it has many affiliates who can promote your product.

Honestly, it's like apples to oranges.

JVZoo requires that you use YOUR PayPal account to accept payments and pay affiliates. ClickBank does this under their name which means less paperwork for you.

Some niches have high refund rates at CB but affiliate trust is lower, IMHO, at JVZoo.

So it really depends on what you need.

      Thanks Garrie,

As with most website market leaders, one choice will eventually stand out as a better overall option. I understand your above explanation that the reality is both CB and JVZoo provide very similar services. Some would claim they are interchangeable. As I promote to a fast-growing list, I was trying to determine if either site had an edge, based on the wider experiences of Warriors. 'Depends what you use it for' may not be relevant in the light of widespread brand preference. We all have our favourites but I'm gunning for the sweet spot of the public average, if possible. Afterall, we all know that Coke beats Pepsi in the bigger ocean of public opinion! *he burps*.

JVzoo is good within the IM niche, but Clickbank will have more affiliates in most other niches when compared to JVzoo.

Platform wise, I prefer JVzoo over clickbank as product approval is quick and implementation is easy.

If you want to use either as an affiliate, it would depend on the niche you want to enter. Click bank for example has a huge database of products you can promote in virtually any niche. These are products with well developed funnels, Usually, the commissions are bigger. However, refund rates can be extremely high and demotivating.

While at JVzoo, you will find many products you could promote in the internet marketing /make money niche, but for other niches, the database is shallow. In addition, the products there carry little commission.

If you want to use it as a seller, I would go for both, but keeping in mind that they all have their flaws. Clickbank has a huge affiliate database and trusted by affiliates. Affiliates know that they will get paid by click bank and they try to follow the rules.

On JVZOO, you have to be careful when accepting affiliates to promote your offer. There are many stories of people who just sign up as affiliates just to steal Vendors money. How?

Jvzoo uses Paypal and payments can be instant unless you choose delayed option (Which also discourages affiliates from promoting your products). But when you approve some affiliates on instant payment, they use hack people paypal accounts and credit card and perform un authorized transactions for your product using their affiliate links. They get the commission, immediately withdraw it. You will get Paypal complaints, and since the affiliate was a fraud, the funds can not be got from their probably already closed or empty accounts. You either have to refund using your own money (Losses) OR risk your Paypal account being frozen, limited or suspended.

But the administrators at JVzoo have built security warnings for vendors into the system and you can chose to follow them or ignore them at your own risk.

The affiliates (The genuine ones) Love instant Paypal payments and this is usually an incentive for them to promote your products listed on JVzoo.

So, in the end, you have to try them out for your self to actually see which one fits you right.

Im a seller and an affiliate, with thousands of sales, so I have used them a bit.

    Advantages of JVZoo:

    1) Free to set up a product
    2) Easy to set up sales funnel
    3) Instant commission payments
    4) They have monthly payments
    5) There is a one time fee option for a WSO.

    Disadvantages of JVZoo

    1) Buggy website, half the features dont work

    2) Strange cookie practices. JVZoo has claimed a a commission for themselves on products they could not have sent traffic to.

    3) Poor support. They answer quickly, but they are generally not knowledgeable. I have asked to same question 3x once and got 3 different answers from the same person. Also they dont do what they say they are going to.

    4) Over all LOW tech. Everything on the site and with there system gives the feel of low tech, many things dont work proper. At first this seems like just an inconvenience but then you have to remember, these guys who cant even make a website work are also the ones handling YOUR money.

    5) They 'gank' your list, and send them competing offers, and are not transparent about this. Which leads to the final negative about JVZoo. They seem more concerned with squeezing every dollar out of the system than they are with providing a solid platform.

Overall I rank JVZoo as a 6 out of 10. For the IM niche its the best of a group of poor solutions, but still is indeed a poor system itself.

You forgot that when sellers don't pay affiliates and it's reported to them they say, "email the seller" and keep letting them sell.

Wow, I didnt know this one actually. Simply because I only affiliate for people who I have a relationship with and most of my affiliates are also my customers so I set them for instants since I know them.

For the ones that I dont set as instants I always pay the exact day that there delay is over. Seems stupid to 'bit the hand that feeds you'.

Still its good to know that JVZoo wont help with sellers that dont pay commissions. Thats kind of crazy.

Yeah for over a year JV Zoo has been saying, "we are working on a system" then 6 months later, "it will be any time now." There are a few threads on this issue.

They easily could have a reporting feature and disable sellers accounts. Either automatically or manually.

  • The fact that Clickbank processes transactions on your behalf, whereas with JVzoo you process them through your own PayPal account, pretty much voids any comparison. It's a different game altogether for power vendors.

Despite being my competitors, I actually believe they're both quite good at what they do. Depends on whether you want a 100% hands-off solution alas paying premium commissions (Clickbank) or whether you don't mind processing through your own PayPal.

Most Internet Marketers are moving away from clickbank nowadays
when they introduced some strict user policies in recent times.
I am an afiliate marketer and i have moved to Clicksure which doesn't
have those strict policies. I am also an affiliate with JV ZOO,
they pay you instantly to your Paypal account as soon as a sale is
confirmed. So that is a big advantage. I am not a vendor so i am not familiar
    with there vendor policies

Clickbank is lousy. First due to the fact that they have a lousy payment system . 2nd…they do not even track your sales properly.

JVZoo is worse than CB – they have no support staff at all.

    All the best. Regards.

ClickBank has added a bunch of new hoops to jump through that makes them harder to use.

As for JVZoo, I always cringed went I tried to make a purchase through JVZoo because their product delivery system would never work for me. I always had to wait for the vendor email containing the download link.

They must be trying to clean up their code because I've seen some changes and the last 2 purchases delivered without a hitch.

I always hear horror stories about vendors being scamed when using PayPal's Adaptive API. I believe these stories are a bunch of crap. I have not seen any proof of this problem.

I have designed a system that uses PayPal's Adaptive API and the way PayPal has designed their system and the extra steps I have installed in my system it is very unlikely for any of the problems tauted in these stories to happen.

I have people testing my system now and there have been no problems with any kind of theft or fraud. Some of the testers are selling very high ticket products with one being $10,000.

I don't know how JVZoo has their security set up in the backend but it they may not be checking to see if refund permission is present before paying affiliates. Or they are giving into vendors who are afraid of the instant pay system.

    Best regards,
    Steve Yakim

I do not use JVZoo as an affiliate any more.

I send traffic to 2 different launches, I know people who buy from my link and I NEVER saw the affiliate commission. I saw the clicks and I receive messages from buyers asking me for support.

I also know my numbers, there's no way I deliver so much buyer traffic and made $0

    So I stick with PayPal.

Maybe Clickbank has had its heyday!? The colour coding system they devised for assessing account quality always irked me a little. I was red, then I was green, then yellow or orange ... I didn't know if I was an affiliate marketer or a rainbow actually!
Account fees also annoying, but then they vanished. Or did they? And should I have purchased from my own affiliate link? I've said too much!

      I agree.

In my opinion, one of the main problems with Clickbank has always been obscurity and arbitrary information. Why use a color-code system (that was never fully explained) when you could simply display refund and chargeback ratios? Why use the Gravity ratio when you could simply display EPCs and Conversions?

Clickbank has done MANY things right through their history, but transparency has never been their strength.
