new domain extensions

Hi,

I want to know if anyone can share some info about new extensions of domains. There are many new domains are coming like .sports, .technology etc. Do you know if good names with these extensions can make money or help in marketing or seo - I mean any advantage of these new extensions?

Thanks

I don't think so. when I type "virtual assistant" in google, one of the results is .com.au and I am using my local google.ph.

Those new domain extensions are nothing more than a scam IMO. Before they used to release few of those new extensions a year, now they want to release the whole enchilada

It's just a gimmick so Registrars can make a ton of money, on domains that most people will not even put into use. Stick with the .com, .net, and .org's.. Don't get caught up into buying a bunch of worthless domains.

Dot com's have been around forever, and do you think a domain like sports.com is going to give up years of SEO, authority and branding to change over to sports.sports? Save your money and your time

Adie, can you give me the URL, let me check its backlinks.
This term is quite related to your country, so it might be the backlinks.
About .com .org .net, not everybody is in the US, but stick to the more original ones

There are a few that interests me the ".photography" has my interest for sure. Anytime you can place a website keyword in your URL it is a good idea.

There is no advantage to new extensions. I stick with .com, .net, .org and .info. Flooding the registrars with all these new extensions is just a money grab by ICANN and registrars. Google's EMD algo changed the advantage that EMDs once held in the serps, so it's pointless to register them. The disadvantages would be resale value, ordinary non-domain aware type people not remembering your extension because they really only know .com, etc. Your content is what matters ... not the domain name.

I don't find any .com.au in first page. The result of everybody is not the same owing to some geo factors.

I got one .co.uk and one .bg in the 3rd page though

Many will be confused when they start to develop them as well. Watch how many typos will happen and most of that will still go to a .com domain. Useless in my opinion

    Memon,

No. There are absolutely no advantages with the new extensions, not from an Internet marketing standpoint.

Dot com is the extension of choice by nearly all the successful commercial companies. If you get a little creative, there are tons of available domains in every niche that are appropriate for any business. It's easy to find short, brandable, excellent dot com domains. If you have a commercial business, dot com is still the way to go!

    The best to you,

    Steve

there is definatley money to be made with investing in some of these new gTLD. The key is finding the few which new extensions that will do well and are worth investing in. Its a gamble, but an educated gamble could pay off big time. There is always money to be made and lost when new things like this hit the market.
