Any ideas on programming?

Hey guys
Merry christmas and happy new year fellow warriors. Hope you had a good one! :-)

I was just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with programming? What i need to learn is if there are any good courses out there on programming for instance for making software to sell as wsos? So for instance a graphics generator for sales pages, wordpress plugins etc..
Any of you guys have any nifty tips?

Evan

  • I have no idea about programming, but I deal with coders on a regular basis. It seems like the most useful skills for web-based applications are HTML, PHP, Ajax, JavaScript and MySQL.

That should point you in the right direction

I'd add CSS to this list. As for javascript and Ajax, it's always good to learn at least their concepts. After that you can deploy javascript and ajax using something like jQuery which is easier to learn and use.

I think it helps to learn all these things in one single place. My recommendation is Online video tutorials & training | lynda.com

Personally I would outsource to somewhere like rent-a-code or guru but if you really want to learn to program then there is no better place than udemy they have loads of courses on all kind of different programming languages and no I'm not getting paid for promoting them.

I think if you don't code right now you really have to decide if you want to be a coder or a marketer. Coding has a steep learning curve but will ultimately give you the freedom to put your ideas in action.

I would say you are going to spend at least a year going from zero (if that is where your are now) to getting a good foundation.

If you want to outsource your development and put your ideas into motion you can start that right away... but you will either need to build a strong alliance with a good coder (which can take time too), or outsource your projects.

I have done all 3 but ultimately went the coding route with Ruby on Rails. PM me if you need resources to get started.

It ultimately comes down to how you want to spend your time.

  • Thanks guys, lots of great advice here. Think i might stick to outsourcing in the beginning and then learn some coding if it turns out to well!

Its Never too late to learn, Never let someone else tell you what you can or cannot do.

You can do anything you want to do, most of us do that very thing every day.

While it is true that learning programming can be a time consuming thing it is not impossible and learning the basics is really a lot more simple than you imagine.

You can do some out sourcing, but you will save a lot of money by knowing a little about how programming works.

When most of these out sourcing companies realize that you do not know much or anything about programming they will take advantage.

If you are interested in learning how to create a software program for a WSO sale Pm me and we can discuss the possibilities.

Codecademy is not only insanely good at teaching you how to program, but it's also fun! Very little theory in these FREE lessons...you'll actually start building things that work just by going through the lessons.
