From my experience there isn't much you have to learn to get into affiliate marketing. You just have to be willing to take action, make mistakes along the way, and learn from it.

Look at it this way. The faster you make mistakes, the faster you will learn, which means you will achieve success faster. All you need is a plan and then follow it.

1. Choose a niche
2. Research and become an expert on that niche
3. Create a squeeze page and/or blog in that niche
4. Create a free report or video you can give away on your squeeze page and in
5. Get an auto responder and setup a series of emails pitching a helpful product within that niche
5. Drive traffic to your website
6. Drive more traffic to your website

Those are the basic steps. If you go through those steps and you fail to see any success then we will be able to help you out. Don't waste too much time increasing knowledge. You should be spending more time working than reading.

Some other advice that helped me out was to find somebody who has reached the success I want to reach doing something similar to what I want to do. In other words, get a mentor. If you have the funds you can pay someone to help you on a personal level or you can just watch what they do from a distance by applying what they do to your own business.

I got a course a couple years ago on affiliate marketing that was pretty interesting to me - a unique approach. I decided not to go that route, but I definitely think it could successful.

The course basically taught you to build a simple site with posts about upcoming events, drive traffic to the posts using things like Yahoo questions, and make money as an affiliate through a site like ticketliquidator.com.

Well in theory, affiliate marketing is really quite simple:

You get your affiliate link (hoplink), and if people purchase the affiliate product that you are promoting by clicking through using your provided link, you make a commission.

Now, how to get that specific link in front of as many targeted eyes as possible...Well, that's the tricky part.

There are several types of strategies that you could employ in order to get your link(s) in front of as many interested people as possible:

- Create a blog based on the niche of the products you are promoting, and tastefully add content-packed posts around the links explaining how they helped you.

- Set-up an autoresponder series of emails with affiliate pitches sprinkled in, and focus on building a targeted list

- You can use basic SEO/free traffic building methods

- You can use paid traffic methods (such as PPC)

The different types of strategies are discussed all over the web. Start with one ("list building to promote affiliate products" for instance), and read all you can about that. From there, implement what you have learned.

From there....try try and try again to figure out what works.
