and

2. What were some of the strategies that you implemented for that to happen

I started thinking about internet marketing too. So I would like to know about it too. Also, what's the hardest thing doing business in internet marketing?

It took me a year. I adopted a web site owner approach. The first year was hard work, toiling away without any reward but then the profits came. It's slowed down with the global recession but still worth it in the right niches. I set up a website, built backlinks through responsible article directories, forum posting, blog posting and guest article writing. It still works despite all the changes by Google. Social maedia is also key especially twitter and facebook.

    1. 10 days after eguide was online, sold first one.

    2. Started with everything free or low cost: Wordpress, plugins, domain, hosting, designs, etc was all under $100. First book sold for $97. Told myself if i can sell one book I can sell 10 -and I have!

**Things that worked for me: Books: 4 Hour Work Week (mainly the Muse section), Click Millionaires. Websites: Weebly!, Mail Chimp (love it), and Dropbox.

It took me six months! I thought I was on the right track promoting an offer called EDC Gold, but it turned out to be a Get Rich Quick scheme and, not only did I waste a lot of time and money on it, it eventually died as they all do.

Happily I stumbled on the fact that 'It's better to sell shovels to miners, instead of digging for gold' and since then I've made 95% of my profits selling the tools all online marketers must have to enjoy quick and lasting success (autoresponder services, ad and link tracking, hosting, blog platforms, training, sms sales and recruiting platform and the list goes on)

My two primary earners among these have a 2 or 3 tier affiliate compensation plan attached and, because the clients I introduce renew their subscription monthly and the retention rate is very high they both provide very stable and lasting residuals.

May I ask how you promote these offers (eg, blog posts, emails to a list, website, etc). I think this is a great strategy but I haven't really come upon a consistent way to promote these offers (eg, it would be great to be an affiliate for an autoresponder or hosting but I am not sure how to get these offers out there).

I made money online long before I did 'marketing' as a freelancer. When I started marketing it was to market my own products. My first product was a success. Earning a net of over $6k in the first week. Guess what. It was a WSO.

About a year and nothing. But once I found something I personally really liked it became a lot easier and I started making progress.

The thing I found is if something doesn't work for you then stop and try something else or a different approach.

Monetary success has always been a up and down, stop and go process. Some years I do terrible, others I do alright, and some make up for the years that I did terrible.

It's hard to really say 'when' I started making money because technically I made money on my first day selling webhosting, but I wouldn't classify that as really making money. To me I think a better point was when I started to make enough that working a full-time minimum wage job would actually take more hours of work than my marketing. That would've been about three years into things, but given that they were my late teens I can definitely say that I suffered from a lot of indecision and directionless meandering.

If by "making money" you mean your first dollar, I was able to do it the very first week of my IM career.

But if you mean making money as in making a living, it took me over a year, and that was with my first site ever. That site (blogstash.com) continues to make me money, though not as much as it used to (due to lost ranking and my working on a few other sites).

As for strategy, I basically started the site, added content as much as I could and promote it in any way I could. I think the best thing out of it was that my first site served as a way for me to learn and experiment. As a result, now I can make sites and start making decent money within a month or so.

Here is the thing, if you are willing to work hard and put in the required effort, no matter what method you go with, you will make money. Unless of course your method/strategy is not a money maker to begin with, which in that case you need to ditch it and go with a method that has proven to be a money maker.

Darn, you're making me feel inadequate!

It took me nearly seven months to make my first dollar!
      .

Still it was worth the wait and the learning process because 14 months down the track I became free.

Sorry, I didn't mean to do that. But then again, don't feel too bad. You didn't lose much. The fast money wasn't really much. We are talking about a few dollars.

I don't want the newbies to get the wrong idea. It takes real hard work and patience to "make a living". Sure you can cut corners and jump from this to that and back, but you're not gonna make much.

If you want a steady income, then you have to stick with a method or two, work hard for it until you succeed.

I started making money right away. It wasn't much but it was enough to keep me motivated. I just did some research, figured out how people make money online, and implemented some of the most basic beginner strategies. I tried a little Clickbank, wrote some Textbroker stuff, just things anyone can do.

I then made a post on an IM forum where I explained all of the things I was doing. I then basically asked "How can I make money NOW?" Someone contacted me, offered to pay me for some work and I ended up working with him for a while, making steady money. What made the difference, I think, is I wasn't asking the same newbie questions. I was taking action and wanted more action to take.

I eventually went out on my own. I started with a free site. Bought a domain for it, marketed myself, and leveraged past work to land bigger work. Eventually I moved my site onto to my own hosting plan as well, bought a nice theme etc.

That lead to me working with several very big clients, such as the largest crowdfunded project in Australian history (at the time) as well as millionaires and real estate moguls.

Now I'm looking to move onto even bigger and better things. It all starts with those first few steps. I know you might get sick of hearing people say "Action is the most important thing." but it's true.

Learning is important but don't waste too much time with your nose buried in an ebook. Find something simple and put it into action as soon as possible. Nothing will motivate you more than those first few dollars.

As for me, it took a LOOOONG time to start making 5 figure a month. I've been making online since 2000 and it took about 10 years before I started making $9,000 - $10,000/mth.

And the strategies that I implemented was take one WSO and actually followed through. That's all. Though there are a lot of junk products out there, a lot of the methods Warriors shared do work.

But less than 10% of those buyers actually follow through and take action.

So yeah, that's exactly what I did. I followed through one method and it started to bring in $300 - $600 a day.

The first strategy is developing the right mindset. Approach it from a business owner's standpoint.

Realize from the start that you will have to work hard and don't expect to be rich in a month after starting and you won't be disappointed.

You can be successful but that success is in your hands.

I think we should also ask the question "how consistent" are we in earning money online?

There's no doubt that some that goes into IM has already some sort of a background about it. Thus, he/she has a head-start when it comes to knowledge.

For an entirely newcomer working on a part-time basis on IM, I would estimate around 6 months is where we could see some results.

How fast we earn money in IM is relative to the effort and resources we will put in into it.

It will take a bit of time for a newcomer to be up to speed in the IM information highway.

    Same day.

    1. I stumbled across a hot product, where people were spending $$$$ like crazy.
    2. I created a condensed version of the product & marketed it at 20% of the original products price.

Note - I didn't copy the original product. The original product was a basic marketing system being sold as a 'miracle system'.

For #1: I produce quality software which has customers who are fanatical about the product. These customers tell other potential customers about the product, of which they have a high likelihood to convert. Because of this, I was making a profit from day 1. As more customers used my software, more and more word of mouth happens, and even more customers are created.

It has now become something akin to a snowball affect. I might have 1 sale, then 1 sale, then 1 sale, then 2 sales. Then 1 sale, then 1, then 2, then 2, then 2, and suddenly 3 sales. Then 1 sale, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, then suddenly FOUR sales. So on, so forth.

For #2: The strategy I use is to be honest, ethical, and produce something that has quality and value. Once that happens, good human nature takes over. People buy the product, enjoy it, and tell their friends about it.

My third day. I started with a FB campaign that was totally against FB terms, then got disapproved THEN suspended. That was my FIRST day. lol. They approved me a few days later, I read the FB terms in and out and picked another Clickbank offer and segmented the hell out of my campaign. Got a 20% click thru rate the day that launched and it maintains at at 9% click thru right now. On that particular campaign/product I have spent $175 in FB ads and and gotten $611 sales on that one in 3 weeks.

I'm a noob and mainly focusing on FB and Adwords sending to Clickbank affiliate offers in the end-consumer market (not selling IMs or JVs or make money at home). The resounding bit of advice that the really good pros give here on WF has always been to take ONE thing and learn it well, so that's the route I took.

Content writing isn't actually Internet marketing per se, however you do have to promote your services online. When I first got into my internet business I knew it would take work, and I knew it would take time, but the question is when and how? I was determined to do whatever it took and I would stay up day and night searching for answers and a lot of times ending up even more confused. But as time passed I learned a ton of things and it took me a while before I really started to get the ball rolling. What I would recommend is that if you want to accelerate the learning curve is to find a mentor or somebody that has already made it that can show you the ropes , it might cost you money, but it will save you a lot of time and headaches!

Of the two, number 2 is my favourite. and make me 5 figures a month.

But realistically, all the smart warriors in here will tell you to build a list, no matter your niche. It really is the most smartest thing you can do in 2014. IF you do not believe me, then give it a try. I am sure you will be pleasently surprised.

I made my first few dollars from fiverr, just a few days after posting my gigs. It was in article writing.

After making my first site, generating high quality content and employing SEO methods, the site made money after 1 month and this increased gradually.

I started affiliate marketing, and I'm yet to go to product marketing. For me, I'm still learning a lot, in my 4th year.

I started making money after about a year it was $52 my first commission.
This was after setting up my own website instead of using url shorteners
to cloak affiliate links. An important message to all newbies here try and
get your own website and use a redirect to affiliate offers.

There is a huge truth in the well known saying 'The money is in the list' - even though it should say 'The money is in the relationship you build with your list'

I still have two email lists in the IM niche and they both return a nice profit - even though email open rates are dropping due to all the spam traps grabbing them or them just being overlooked in the swarm of emails we get each day.

Lately I've gone to building my lists with sms (people optin by giving their cell number) and that's proving to be much more responsive - for the reasons the survey results on my blog make clear

It took me about 2 months for my first money online. And about 4 months to reach my first $100 day! But i have to say that i started with no knowledge about IM at all! I even didn't know what wordpress is!
My best tip to all not making money online yet: chose a proven method/businessmodel (you can find a lot of them for free here in the forum) and stay focused to only this method! If you try hard you will make money!
