What's the Best Simple Tip You've Learned This Year?

Hey Warriors!

Every once in awhile I learn something and smack my forehead and say, "OMG I can't BELIEVE I wasn't doing that!" It's usually something so simple that you know is going to have huge results.

Well today I had one of those head smacking moments. I'm taking Jimmy Brown's Affiliatenaire course and if you know Jimmy, you know he does what I love - walks the newbie step by step through every tiny detail. Today I saw a little thing I had NOT been doing that could significantly impact my profits.

I wasn't setting up an Aweber confirmation page with a SELLING opportunity on it! I never even set one up. LAZY! It's kind of like, "Thank you for signing up. While you wait for your confirmation email, check this out" type of thing...with a hyperlink.

Thanks Jimmy - I'm going through now to do that for ALL my lists now. Can't believe I missed it!

Now Warriors - what "seems so simple I can't believe I missed it" tip did YOU learn this year?

Tiff

It's an autoresponder service. When you visit a site and they have you fill in your name and email address to get something like tips, it's an autoresponder service They email you from it.

PS - There are no stupid questions - or if there are, we're all idiots!

The biggest tip that I learned was that not everyone wants to be your friend. Not everyone wants to have friends, and they would do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Even if it means destroying others

Hi the one thing I picked up on this year and has made a huge impact on my list size was to simple add a second opt in box to my squeeze pages...always had one at the bottom...simple just put one at the top aswell. Sounds simple made a big difference

Cool. Thanks Tiffany. I'll give it some thought. I'm on Jimmy's list and he is awesome. I'm sure the material he teaches is great.

In his sales letter, he made it seem like it's only for newbies. But I'm thinking I'll give it a shot now.

      Again, thanks.

Oh...and the simple tip that I've learned this year is to backlink my articles.

      Really simple. Super effective.

    Hi Tiff,

Adding a 'tweet this' function to one of my pages added a substantial revenue increase and was really simple to do, but until this year and Twitter getting more popular I never thought to put it in this particular page -but I learned a nice lesson from doing it.

No-one told me to, it just dawned on me so I tried it.

Great tip Andy! How do you add a Tweet this "function?" I haven't done that either! Is it on Twitter or some other place where I grab code for it?

I just had a piece of code written. I have a bunch of Twitter apps that I got made for me and this was just one of the little things I thought of at the time.

I'm not sure where you could grab it from but it's not provided by Twitter.

  • What lesson have I learned this year?

To stick to what I do best and what's already proven profitable for me in the past. The thinner you spread with "new crazy ideas", the less you'll milk your actual cash cow.

Earlier this year I wasted 3 months (which cost me tens of thousands on lost time and revenue) by experimenting in a whole new niche I had no experience with. Needless to say I made almost no money. As soon as I decided to go back to what I do best, the money started to pour in again.

Yes that is a very powerful method to make some sales while building your list. Gives you that extra boost of income with no extra efforts with these kind of one time offers.

Another tip like this: Have you ever considered using your 404 pages as your squeeze pages or to put up a one time offer? If not do that to give your efforts more boost.

These are small small things that matters due to the butterfly effect in the long run.

I talk about many more tips like this in my optin list building ebook in my sig.

  • I am currently studying Eben Pagan's 'Wake Up Productive' course. Incredible.

One hot trick is this: the 60-60-30 solution. Divide your day into blocks of 60 mins, 60min, and 30min.

The 60min blocks are for LAZER FOCUS work time. The last 10 min is meant to be a break. During the break you can do pushups, a headstand, take a walk or whatever energizes you.

The 30 min block is for eating a healthy snack.

This is a great method for allowing your brain the time to file info and also take a breath.

A tip that someone here on Warriors included with their overall success formula free of charge.

They were talking about how they selected a niche and while they used the common tools for looking at number of searches and number of competing sites, they also went and queried and if in the first page or two of Google results, they saw an ARTICLE, in the results... then they figured they could quickly get a page up in the Google results. It was/is a super-fast litmus test for a niche that is doable.

Now I don't think of this as so obvious that I knock myself on the head and say.... why didn't I think of that, but it is a cool little trick that I use all the time now.

In a word, focus. I'm horribly afflicted with IMADD (Internet Marketer's Attention Deficit Disorder). When I get really mad at myself and force myself to focus on money-making activities instead of the never-ending "next big thing," my bank account balance increases. Do they make a pill for IMADD? Never mind, I'd just forget to take it because something new would distract me.

    First post! Woo!

The best 'Twitter tip' I've heard this year involves the bulk following technique that most of us (?) use to increase our following.

Basically, never go further than about one hundred deep into someone's list at any one time. These are guaranteed to be active Twitter-ers which in turn will be more responsive to you, which is the reason for following them in the first place. Going deeper into the same following means you may end up following dormant Twitter users.

    Gary

P.S: I love you're moving Twitter avatar Tiffany. Might give that ago myself

    Couple of tips:

1.) When writing a press release, put your keyword in the headline. Works wonders for SEO.

2.) Don't expect your first IM efforts to be a success. If you are brand new to the game, try things until you find what works best for you. Note: start something and FINISH it before you can say it doesn't work.

3.) Decide what you are good at and find ways to outsource the rest, even if it means bartering if you have no money at first. I am a fantastic writer; I am a terrible designer. It makes sense for me to pay for people to design my websites, ecovers, etc. because I am not good at it. If you do what you are good at...and pay other talented people to do the rest...people will only see the best when they visit your sites and you will look far more professional and trustworthy then someone with a poorly written site, or a poorly designed site.

The best tip I've learned is to quit chasing after every money-making opportunity and never following through. By settling my mind, coming up with a plan and resolving to follow through on that plan, I am much further along than I was when hopping aimlessly around, quickly giving up and moving on to the next big thing.

Test. If I have an idea I test it. I listen to others opinions but in the end if I really want to know I test it myself. I have been doing more and more split testing. I always knew about it, but for some reason was too lazy to use it.

the best tips i have learned so far are:
    - in the end, you can only depend on your own actions to succeed (don't overly depend on affiliates & jv's to do everything for you because some may not do what they say they will)
    - don't believe in the hype until you see results
    - don't be swayed by all the new product launches every week (instead, focus on WHAT YOU DO NOW...and DO IT ALL THE WAY)...
    - unsubscribe from many of the email lists...it will free up your time
    - figure out your CORE WHY you want to succeed in IM...and it will help you achieve the WHAT you want to achieve...

    Two things:

    1. Forget about Clickbank for now. Build your own how-to product, and sell it through PayPal for a nice little immediate daily income (thank you, Kevin Riley!).
    2. When writing articles, model your article title and content after the most-viewed articles in a particular category. Reverse engineering. Brilliant.

Don't just know your work schedule. Write it up like a store open close sign.

Pin it up for all to see (my family in particular who can't seem to do anything without me) and be serious about it.

When I shut my office door and that sign is up. Lord help who walks in and bugs me.
