Will Someone Please, Please Please Help me find an article writer

After losing our previous long term article writer who we found right here on the Warrior Forum we have struggled to find a replacement. I have talked to so many article writers but have still not found anyone. Here are the issues we have been running into lately in trying to find someone:

1. Couldn't complete the assignment and just vanished
2. Told us they had real estate knowledge to get the jobs then it was obvious they had no clue or any real estate experience as they didn't understand the lingo at all.
3. Told us they wrote and spoke perfect english then the writing proved different
4. Sent us spun articles
5. Went with a low dollar writer and got low quality (not sure why we expect different)
6. Said they could meet deadlines, took a deposit and we are still waiting

Please, Please help me find someone with some real estate knowledge or at least the ability to research real estate related topics that can write 30-60 articles per month.

We aren't interested in the cheapest articles, like the $3 articles, etc.

We can pay $8-$13 per article and guarantee at least 30 per month which should yield us some pretty good articles and writer?

I found our old writer from the Warriors for Hire section here and he was great for a long time, wish I could have him back. But once he moved on I haven't had any luck for the reasons stated above and most of those problems were from people found in the Warrior for hire section

If anyone has a referral for someone they know that would be great

I have posted on several of the freelance sites as well.

Hire line cooks (mulitple) not chefs. When the chef quits or leaves, you are often screwed.

You need a roster of folks like any pro sports team has. Multiple people in case someone quits. You should be using different writers anyway for projects.

You find more writers than you know what to do with on any of the freelance sites. Rank them and keep in contact with the other top four who didn't get hired.

I hear you Bud and am guilty as charged

That was the method I have been trying. I am spending way too much time just trying to get our articles, track down the line cooks, etc.

It is probably the way to go but I simply don't have the time to manage multiple people. In this case, i really want one maybe two writers that I can depend on.

    Brian,

You face the same challenge as many marketers, and that is to find quality content to attract visitors, search engines and encourage backlinks through social networks.

Your question should not be 'help me find an article writer', your question should be 'how much is my time worth?'

As stated, you have little time to perform certain tasks of your business and you should consider, how much is your time worth.

A single quality article, properly researched, eloquently presented and edited for grammar and spelling will take a professional writer
    one or two hours.

Consider now, how long would it take you to do the same? then how much would you 'pay yourself' to perform this task?

The reason you can not find a quality writer is simply because your offering rate is below the professional level. However, there are plenty of places, as you already know, where you can get substandard work on the cheap. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Would you hire Joe handyman to replace your electric service in your home because he only charges $12 an hour, or, would you rather have a certified master electrician do the job?

You can not apply the Henry Ford 'assembly line' theory to marketing, as it will severely reduce the quality of your Brand. The suggestion to hire line cooks and not chefs is the problem with most Internet Marketers, they want to hire on the cheap and then complain when their sites, articles and brand does not convert well. (Do you want to be 'the greasy spoon' or a '5-Star hotspot known for it's elegant cuisine')

Increase your rate and I am sure you can easily locate quality writers to promote your brand. I for one, as well as the many excellent writers on the forum, would gladly write your articles, however an appropriate pay consideration must be made.

    Best of Luck,
    Jon

I would try elance or any other program similar to that. I personally have a few article writers I found from there that the second they post to my job I hire them unless I find someone else that is better suited before hand.

For what it's worth, I have not had any luck with either Elance or Guru.com. I was unable to use the articles I received from either. One was way too short and the other was written in poor English. I was told you could get articles for $5, but have not found it to be so.

I prefer to buy PLR articles (and there are a lot around these days) and edit them myself.

This is what I call the false economy of hiring cheap writers. No writer worth their salt will write for less than $2 per 100 words and most will want $6.

Many internet marketers unfortunately think quantity over quality...which is another mistake.

A good writer is worth their weight in gold...so its crazy to try to pay in copper.

A great niche PLR provider is the same.

You are right. $2 per 100 words was the lowest rate I've written for when just starting out and I had people on this forum tell me it was too much. I'm not sure what kind of quality they were expecting for less. I enjoy writing a great deal, but I have to make sure it is a profitable business. If I get a break in clients I just write for my own websites in which I make much more than $2 per 100 words in the long run.

I have not had any luck at all with the sites mentioned and I have tried. perhaps it is me I have found in the past few months that just trying to find a good writer/s and keeping them on task can be as much work as writing them yourself Well, maybe not that bad, but it is an issue.

A few people keep bringing up that we are not offering enough pay. So, I would like to once again ask, what should the pay be.

Because everytime I post on the sites mentioned for example, i get tons and tons of responses and the average rate it seems is less than $10, more like $7, sometimes even less.

I know you get what you pay for, I understand that

I thought by offering up to $13 along with long term consistent work that I was offering more than most, perhaps I am wrong there.

Price to me is not the most important factor, i want someone that will be there long term, or at least a while and produce quality on a consistent basis, and so far, I have not found that, other than my previous long time writer, who I am now wishing I had back

I have been in contact with quite a few writers because of this thread and I am hoping a few of them work out.

              Hi Brian,

It sounds like you are receiving bids from people who are desperate to get the work and are willing to do it for peanuts. Unfortunately, the majority of such people do not have the skills to meet higher expectations.

Last year, I took on a lengthy photography-related assignment that paid me $15 per 500-word article. She told me that is her upper limit as it was the going rate for quality writers. Yet, I see writers right here on the forum who are charging $25+ for their services.

As with anything, you get what you pay for, as you say. The more expertise you require, the more you will have to pay for it. Certainly, anything under $10 would not be worth the effort for most professionals.

When I worked offline as a freelance magazine writer back in the '80s, I received $250 - $350 per 1,500 word article, but of course no one would pay that online. Online marketers have been led to believe they can get articles written for $2 - $8 on average. While there are people who can write well for that amount, you never really know until you see their results.

A few things to consider if you decide to use Elance or other service is the nationality of the bidder. Ask to see samples of their work. Often, you can quickly see a bidder's true qualities by the communications between you. If a person cannot write grammar-perfect emails, it's unlikely they can write quality articles.

              Hope this helps.

              Sylvia

PS: the other thing I would recommend is that you hire them to do 5 articles initially so you can get a good idea of their skills. You might even pay less for those initial 5 with a higher rate once you take them on long term.

It's true that some services attract better providers than others do. Whenever I've posted on Elance, the bids are higher than I would expect. For example, when I was looking for an ebook designer, none of the bids were under $70-$100, yet marketers kept telling me you can get a book done for $20-$50. I did find them at that price on another site, though, but the samples weren't as good.

I think people confuse plr with article writing. When they see plr offered at $1-$5 apiece, they expect to hire a writer / or offer their services at that price. What they aren't taking into consideration is that plr gets distributed by hundreds if not thousands of buyers, whereas specifically ordered articles are original and uncirculated. You get the first and only copy, not articles that are devalued from over-production.

This is a common problem from what I can see. When I was ghostwriting I tried to keep my rates competitive so I could build up clientele and cash flow, but the quality I was outputting for the price caused me to be booked for months in advance at 10-20 articles a day. Needless to say I burned out :\

I still kick myself over it sometimes. Instead of giving myself enough breathing room for my own projects and raising prices along with demand, I simply stopped offering the service and moved on. I see the same things happening with good writers around here and on freelance sites too.

As for hiring freelancers, I've always preferred Elance. I have a knack for being able to choose good providers for various types of products, but with writing specifically I always try to choose a minimum of 3 winners per project. I almost always ignore the bottom of the barrel pricing, and go with two mid levels and one higher level.

This allows me to have varietions in quality, have backup articles if one writer flakes, and build a stable of callbacks faster.

I think this is one of the keys. You must raise your prices as your demand goes up. Mostly, what you see is the opposite. Writers turn off their marketing funnels as their diary fills up.

This is a common strategic mistake. Most writers do their own marketing. Another income killer.

I've used many different sources for my articles over the years, but I have yet to find anything as reliable as Need an Article -- Automated Article System! . Because they hire the writers and all you have to do is submit a few sources. Sometimes an article can take up to five days to be completed but if you submit 10 at a time, you'll normally get them all back within a week.

At less than $6 for 500 words, I haven't found anything else that has been as consistent.

Just thought I would pop in and update everyone on this thread about our progress.

We received a ton of e-mails from Warriors about this saying they understood all the issues above and would love to take this on.

Of all of the responses we received we still only have one writer producing. We sent deposits out to many writers and it was more of the same as above.

I had people saying they were NY Times writers, etc, etc. and were very impressive to speak with. They took on the job, took my deposit, then either disappeared or finally e-mailed me and so, oh, I need a week, oh, now I need another week, oh, I guess I can't do them, i will send a refund. The refund of course I have to spend even more time running down and nagging to get my $100 back or whatever the deposit was.

    Unbelievable.

With that said, I have found one writer that is producing incredibly well so far, very good quality, great communication and on time!!

I am still looking for at least one more writer.
