Absolutely they work. Its one of those things you have to try out for yourself.

When I make a video for a product I make sure to show a little demo of the product that way people can see me using it in action. People like to associate themselves with the video. They picture themselves using it and they begin to think what they would use it for. This helps in your conversions!

You can't be distracting in the video though and you have to really believe in the product or service that your showcasing. It's like having an actual sales man on your computer selling your product to everyone that clicks the play button.

A lot of the success you'll have, at least in my experience, will have a lot
      to do with the niche.

Some, like the music niche where video can be so powerful (guitar tips,
piano tips, songwriting tips, etc.) can bring tons of views and sales if you
have a killer product. One guy does very well just selling a course that
teaches you how to play Classical Gas...one song.

Some niches, I have found, only bring freebie seekers. But that's going to
be true with articles or any other form of content.

The key is understanding your niche market BEFORE you make the video so
that you know what hot buttons to press.

Hopefully, Kevin Riley will pop in and offer some advice as he's one of the
      video kings, IMO.

      Videos--

I am a regular consumer and when I see a video on something I am looking for, I get this excitement because I think I am going to see some real, live information that I can use to determine whether or not this is the product I am seeking.
If I can see the product, hear the price, and why it provides a value to me, then I usually end up buying it. I may not buy it right away--I check other videos on it, and other information. But, if it was a video that provided me with the most information about what I am looking for, I go back to it.

A great deal many people are visual learners. So, if you make your video with teaching in mind--the customer feels that they are not being sold something--they feel that this is the only one that let me know where to best spend the money I have. See, I have already decided to spend the money--I just need the best product and the video that outdoes the others is where I usually cash in.

I personally believe video marketing is possibly THE MOST EFFECTIVE method of marketing. Not just for the obviously reasons, but the SEO alone is great. I can put a video up on youtube optimsed and keyword filled for my particular niche, and within 48 hours that video shows up on GOOGLE in the search results for my chosen keywords - WITH a little preview picture next to it. It's so powerful and your listing sticks out in the SERPS.

I have to say that I BELIEVE it must work, and I like to see videos when I'm surfing/purchasing... but I can say that I've created more than one sales video that lowered my conversions too. So, testing and evaluating is still important.

    - could have been my 'mug' or what I had to say, or how I said it, or who knows... but in several cases I ripped those videos off of there after about 10 days of significantly lower conversions and sure enough, sales went back up.

The Google-video (window of opportunity that Stu mentions) makes it worth it, even if the video is on a different sales page than the primary.

video marketing works with out doubt and even more so now than ever. My mentor pulled in over 5 figures in his second month of internet marketing and it was all from video marketing.

The best part about video marketing for the most part it is 100% free and very easy to do. More people are using video marketing today because its more personal and people like visual things, rather than just reading content.

Now a days people would much rather watch a video tutorial than read an e-book on the same thing. So to answer your question yes video marketing does work and is a very powerful technique.

I think one of the guides here referred to one video marketing method in particular: Shooting a video of yourself buying the product and using it. While it's not the most economic way of doing marketing, I think it should really be effective. Most people are still very doubtful about shopping over the Internet and buying the product in the video can help greatly, the guide said. And it made great sense to me.

Video marketing absolutely works, but I'd tie it in with other forms of marketing, as well. Best not to rely too much on a one-pronged approach!

The elephant in the room with it is you have to get traffic
to watch the video and then click or type in your URL
and hope the sales copy converts to a sale: a 2-step
process. While it's relatively easy to get traffic to videos
about keywords people are looking for the real challenge
is to make videos that aren't boring, stupid, or irrelevant,
as many are - and furthermore you must in doing this
contend with the reality that people watch videos to
get free information, not to pay for it.

        Can they be effective? Absolutely.

Will you have to do significant market research and testing
to find niche markets that both respond to video and
        aren't super-saturated already? Yes.

I agree as well. A house with one pillar for the roof is a little wobbly, but if you have multiple supports it is much stronger.

i believe it can work for you. same as the other ways of marketing your product, you have to tap the right places, and don't just stop with one. videos can be more convincing, if they are well made, and there would be some demo on how to use your product, and not just all talk.

It works. But the video needs to be good. It needs to deliver REAL value to the audience in some way, whether it's by giving them a real tip that they can actually use, by showing them insider information that they genuinely wanted to see and couldn't get in another way, or by the presenter being especially funny, likeable or quirky.

This last one was exemplified to me by one of Tony Shepherd's videos where he does nothing but show his newsletter opt-in form on his blog and explain that people can sign up to get updates through email. That's it. That's all the video was about... but the sheer humor, charisma and magnetism that the guy exudes as he talks got me to click through to the actual blog, and I have no doubt that it's the same for a lot of people.

So just look at your video with an honest eye. If you can honestly say that it's something that would genuinely get you to click through, then it's likely good, but if it's something that you're hoping will make other people interested while not interesting you at all, it's probably not going to do much beyond giving you the backlink.

(Edit - Just thought of Ed Dale as another one who leverages video marketing to a crazy degree thanks to the energy and charisma he gets to come through on every video he makes. They are both good examples to learn from If you're thinking if starting to go this route.)

Great thing with videos is that once you can get your video indexed
by Google for a certain keyword or keyphrase... you can expect to
see it there for a reaaaaally long time.

I make money with video - but you have to understand that people
seek out corroborative data before buying from me - they might
search for my name and find my YouTube channel, so it's not always
a process of: VIDEO=MONEY - which is the thing everybody wants
but is tricky to do. Look at the aformentioned Ed Dale - the guy has
an astonishing amount of great video content out... and written
        content, etc.

You can make money with videos reviewing an affiliate product
with a link at the end - if you hit a nerve in the market you can
profit with these kinds of videos. Research is the key... and knowing
the "language" your target market will respond to.

The 'future is in video marketing' hype has been going on for sometime now. Just check out how many IM youtube videos there are with minimal traffic. I'm curious how many people have made pretty good videos and find they can't get much traffic to them.

The other thing to be aware of is that youtube registers a visit after just a few seconds of watching. It's a very small minority that actually watches ANY video from start to finish. So...depending on your niche - an article still might be more effective to getting visitors to click on over to your MONEY page. I've found that to be the case for several of mine.

Video marketing does work effectively. Try consider submitting different versions of the video for the product that you are going to promote at different time, this will to increase back link to your site and also increase the number of viewer to your video.

When I first started one of my blogs, video marketing was the best traffic generation I had. I can confidently say that you can use it as a weapon, but before you rush to create just "any video" be sure to make a good keyword research so you'll be able to dominate the first page of Google for those keywords.

    Wish you the best,
