I'm starting a monthly subscription service. And I plan on using affiliates to help promote. What would be best to use, paypal or clickbank? Clickbank seems like it's perfectly set up for ease of use with affiliates, but I'm not sure about how paypal handles affiliates.

If you want an army of affiliates promoting your product for you the easiest thing to do is sign up for ClickBank or PayDotCom. Both of these can use PayPal to take payments.

PayDotCom lets you list one product with them before they start charging you to list a product

ClickBank charges $49.95 to list one product in their market place. That doesn't include their per item fees.

If you have the ability to recruit affiliates yourself through JVs or whatever you can go the PayPal only route though.

So, basically, PayPal is a payment processor, period.

ClickBank handles transactions, and they use PayPal as one of their payment providers, but they also can help you get an affiliate army going quicker. Make sense?

  • Between those two it makes sense to go with Clickbank because they also offer PayPal as one of their payment options. They also offer the affiliate network, which you don't get with PayPal..

Clickbank is better if you're dependent on affiliates to drive your sales.

You may want to check out Rapid Action Profits as well.
They let you run it through paypal and set up or manage your own affiliate program.

I wouldn't use Paypal for subscriptions as if they close you down (and they do it quite often) you lose all your subscriptions. I think it is worth paying the $49.95 to put a product on Clickbank and have them manage your subscriptions.
