Backing Up Your Sites...

Hey All!

So today something terrible happened to me and my online business. Whilst trying to fix a small problem on my largest website I corrupted it's database and caused the entire website to go down.

Just a few days ago I installed a backup plugin for the website. So luckily I managed to restore a previous version of my database.

My advice to all warriors, even if you think that nothing will happen or even if you think you don't need it is to get some form of backuping done on all of your wordpress websites, and any other websites you own. Not always can your host help.

If your sites do go down and you don't have a backup you will kick your self as you could of lost your business.

Thanks for reading my advice from my experience today!

If you have your own server, or virtual server, I highly suggest you have a cronjob do a gzip of your webroot, as well as mysql /var/lib/mysql, and then sftp/rsynch or even dropbox it, on a daily schedule.

    Very sound advice.
To do a belt and braces job, keep back ups in several different places, and just to make sure every time you make a new WP post, copy the html code into a file, including the title, url and tags.
It takes less than a minute, and it is well worth the effort, don't ask me how I know
