Are Solo Ads really where the money is?

I keep hearing about the money is in Solo Ads.
Is this just a phase and have the traditional forms
of free advertising lost their sting.

Has article marketing gone the way of the dinasour. Are
the safe-lists and Viral systems dead.

List building is so difficult these days with people shying away
from giving away their email address from risk of spam overflow.

Do these paid Solos Ads really work. Are they not getting over run
with sales pitches. Whos wants to open their contact email every day
and be bombarded by sales pitches...Really.

Any ideas...Do Paid Solo Ads really work and how do you know which one is best. Don't the best ones get bombarded and overloaded with Sales pitches....

Solo Ads are good, but you have to be selective who you buy your solo ads from. Many people got into the solo ad industry knowing there is money to be made, and so many are selling junk traffic these days. Whenever you buy solo ads always review who you are buying from, start low, and if it works good than you can scale it. What you don't want to do is the make a large investment on something that turns out to be junk, be smart in your advertising. By the way, I never recommend using Safe-lists or Viral list building for traffic.

      LOL on this comment..

Anyway, to answer the OP, yes, solo ad traffic is good but make sure to check first the background and the reputation of the person who sells a solo ad service. A list that is being bombarded every week with promotional emails is not good.

I have never and will never buy a solo ad. $.80+ Per email for a email thats on scores of lists, trained to expect free stuff, and also gets spammed by the solo ad provider? Ill pass.

Solo ads are good, but if you're buying from typical sources around these parts, what you described is exactly what they are most of the time.

What's even funnier is in some of these Skype groups of solo sellers you'll see in one room a seller looking for swaps, then in another room posting about how many clicks he can sell you.

It's comical watching all of them beg for money. They come across so desperate.

Solo ads are good, but it must be selective from who you buy. Another way to build your list is from wso, you will get really good quality list from wso.

I find most solo ads to be junk especially ones that come from solo ad vendors.

The reason they are willing to let other people advertise to their list tends to be because they can't make any money from them themselves through any other method, just lists of freebie seekers, so they spam other peoples offers to them and make money that way.

If you can get a solo ad from a list that doesn't sell solo ads for a business or doesn't send them often you can get good results but otherwise I find it not a great method.

Most are over priced and deliver junk subscribers who never open emails. The whole system is flawed anyway as people are coming into your list knowing nothing about you and that never leads to high open rates.

They work if your funnel works. But there are better ways to build your list. FB ads are pretty good and can cost far less.

Solo ads are great when you already have a list of proven sellers filtered out.
When starting out, it's a bit fo a hit or miss game and takes money to test all the sellers.
But if you have at least a break even funnel - it's easy to build a huge list very quickly.

As with any paid traffic sources/services there are always good and bad. There are plenty of great solo providers out there, ones that know how to clean and segment there lists, how to build it from various traffic sources themselves and therefore giving decent returns. But as has been said before, plenty of scammers so be careful.

There are plenty of review sites popping up too. Check out mike from maines blog, he does really good no hold barred video reviews for every solo he purchases.
