Amazon Associates: Product Preview Link

Hello All

Has anyone used the product preview link on their amazon sites.

I was just on amazon and looking at it. For those not familiar with it you basically add the script to either a text or image link and a small preview popup appears. The popup gives a quick one sentence description and a buy now button.

Has anyone used this and does it increase click thrus or conversions.

My review sites are Wordpress sites, where does the script go,

Any info on this amazon link strategy would be appreciated

Haven't tried this yet, but from what i here those buy now buttons don't convert too well. Is this a new thing from amazon?

I personally think the buy now button is used more to set a 30 day cookie than to actually sell the product. Although, selling the product on the spot is a good thing.

You can load the code at your Theme's Footer

I have tried this before on some of my sites and decided to take it off after one month of testing things out...

The conversion is never there and it can be annoying at times. For example, the preview may choose to take a long time to load up (or don't load up at all) and the alignment changes at times (left to right or right to left of the mouse pointer).

I think you will be better off telling your story why the Amazon Product is good and bad and let the customer decide whether to do the click-through (and let Amazon do the selling for you)

Personally, I have been with amazon many years. OK so my conversions are poor. Best is to have a dedicated page. Then you supply your own images. Do not depend on amazon images. Those are too small in size. Place many large images on your page. All must be clear and crisp. Customers also like to see a mini movie. Go to you tube and find one. Maybe there is none. Hey, in that case... create one. Listen up. It is not a good idea to use product preview. Split test it, if you do not believe me. Also, you need to have a TEXT link going to amazon. Oh yes, [buy now] buttons are super. However, they suck at conversion.
